Paramus NJ, Paramus Mayor Chris DiPiazza disputed the Northjersey.coms list of “10 towns have the lowest property taxes per year in Bergen County”.
Mayor DiPiazza said in a Facebook post, ” I hate to use the term “fake news” but this article, and the metric of average tax dollars paid as the indicator for the list is not the right way to inform the public. It should be by municipal tax rate. Paramus has a the sixth lowest tax rate in Bergen County at 1.514%
An assessed million dollar home in Paramus pays $15,140 in taxes. While the same valued home in Garfield (on this list) will pay $33,370. In neighboring Rochelle Park (on the list) you would pay $28,220″
The Record listed these ,”Towns in Bergen County with the lowest taxes”
East Rutherford: $7,509
