Paramus NJ, Non-essential retail is set to reopen as part of Stage 2 of New Jersey’s restart on June 15, but shopping malls like Westfield Garden State Plaza the largest operational mall in the state.
which accounts for roughly 10% of the Paramus tax base are not included. Over 20 million people visit Westfield Garden State Plaza in a typical year.
Paramus Mayor LaBarbiera, joined the mayors of Elizabeth, Bridgewater, Wayne and Woodbridge, sent a joint letter to Governor Murphy, asking him to consider allowing malls to reopen as soon as possible.
“Hopefully the worst is behind us and we can continue to open up,” said Mayor LaBarbiera. “And one of the things that we ask is that he consider is, again, the reopening of the malls , no different than any other nonessential retail.”

That’s fine just control the crowd, massive security will be a must. Because all lives matter.

The key factor is the mask. Needs to mandatory to enter the mall. Will be some time before we see huge crowds in the mall, anyway, due to Covid fears
None of you work in Garden State Plaza like I do. I can tell you first hand that pre closing was a NIGHTMARE! And now I can also tell you with absolute certainty that there IS ABSOLUTELY NO WAY TO CROWD CONTROL, ENFORCE MANDATORY MASKS OR ANY DUVH PRECAUTIONS! Opening now would be a huge mistake for not only the businesses but the workers and customers alike. You all think this will be easy but I can assure it will not be. Businesses in the mall were majorly suffering right before the virus and subsequent shut down and people were still working then. What do you think it will be like now? People won’t be shopping but just going there to get out of the house. How is that safe?
