Paramus NJ, Paramus residents will see major upgrades to the intersection of Midland and Farview Avenues next year. Mayor Chris DiPiazza made the announcement on Facebook. This key crossing has been selected by the Borough Council as the focus for safety and traffic improvements, which include adding left-turn lanes, enhancing sidewalks, and removing outdated traffic features. The Council recently approved the project to go to bid, marking a big step forward in the town’s effort to modernize busy intersections.
What’s Changing at Midland and Farview
Mayor Chris DiPiazza shared that the Midland and Farview improvements will be similar to those currently underway at Forest Avenue and Spring Valley Road. The planned changes include:
- Lane Widening: Expanded lanes to ease congestion and improve traffic flow.
- Sidewalk Upgrades: New sidewalks will be added, along with ADA-compliant curb ramps for improved accessibility.
- Left-Turn Lanes and Signals: Dedicated turn lanes and updated signals will enhance safety and reduce wait times.
- Removal of Outdated Features: An island currently on Midland Avenue will be removed, though the decorative clock on the island will stay in place.
In addition, a cement divider near the Delta gas station on Midland Avenue will be taken out to further streamline traffic flow through the intersection.
Looking Ahead to Future Projects
The Paramus Council aims to tackle one major intersection upgrade per year. Mayor DiPiazza highlighted a few candidates for next year, including the intersection of Pascack Road and East Ridgewood Avenue, which is close to The Valley Hospital, and a possible collaboration with Oradell on improving the intersection at Forest and Oradell Avenues.
“We’re committed to improving traffic safety and ease at Paramus’s busiest intersections,” DiPiazza stated. “Selecting one intersection annually allows us to make impactful changes without overextending our resources.”
With the project scheduled for 2025, residents and commuters can look forward to a safer and more efficient Midland and Farview crossing, as well as continued intersection upgrades across Paramus in the coming years.

Awesome, one of the worst intersections in the county.
Glad to see they will be installing all those ADA-compliant curb ramps that no one ever uses. Citizens might be surprised to know that they cost about $10,000 per corner to install, and your Federal government has spent untold TENS-OF-BILLIONS to install them. Perhaps Musk will eliminate this nonsense, and waste of our hard-earned tax money.
An island in Midland Avenue will be removed, but the clock there will remain? So that cars can crash into it?
