Oxford Michigan, the parents of the convicted Oxford High School shooter received their sentences, each facing 10 to 15 years in state prison for their failure to prevent their son from carrying out the tragic shooting at his Michigan school in November 2021, resulting in the death of four individuals and injuring seven others. This landmark conviction marks the first instance in the United States where parents of a child responsible for a mass shooting have been held accountable.

Jennifer and James Crumbley were both convicted of four counts of involuntary manslaughter in separate trials earlier this year. Prosecutors asserted that the couple exhibited gross negligence in recognizing and addressing the potential danger posed by their son before the shooting occurred. They highlighted instances of the shooter’s mental instability and propensity for violence, including alarming behaviors observed during meetings the parents attended with school officials on the day of the incident (refer to the timeline). The firearm used in the shooting, a 9 mm semi-automatic handgun, had been purchased by the father as a gift for his son just four days prior.

The shooter admitted guilt to all charges and was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole in December.

  1. I’d like to see the same laws applied to the criminals that supply the illegal guns.
Legal gun owners are not the problem, straw buyers are.
These parents should have never got the kid a gun.
Responsible parents would have kept it locked up unless they were present

    1. The mother took him to a shooting range and said they didn’t know he had dark thoughts even tho he asked for help? Wtf. The she said it wasn’t her responsibility it was the father who should have locked it up. Bunch of losers and now children are dead because of their stupidity and apathy.

Killing your unborn kids is good.

    Got it.

      1. It’s actually not that complex. Maybe you’re making it complex. And complicating simple things typically indicates sophistry.

  3. They are lucky they didn’t get electric chair. The kids are not buying the guns. It’s the parents and they should be properly locked up and that’s the problem with these kids. They have no respect, knowledge and safety of a firearm.
