Paul Aronsohn supporters are fleeing in droves

the fly theridgewoodblog.net…The fly has learned  that Paul Aronsohn supporters are fleeing in droves after last night’s pathetic display of arrogance.

The CRR people have launched a “Dump Aronsohn” campaign behind the scenes. It seems that the mood now is to make sure Aronsohn doesn’t get reelected AT ALL!!

The Ridgewood moms feel strongly that Jane S. will round out the Council with another female voice to compliment Bernie Walsh.

Keith is earning praise left and right for staying above the political fray and really showing his leadership by not getting sucked into Aronsohn’s political ploy.

Aronsohn continues to take outside $ from State political operatives that have no affiliation with Ridgewood (check his ELEC NJ filing). He also continues to reap the benefit of free medical benefits for his entire family with a $5.00 COPAY. Wow don’t we all wish we had a $5.00 COPAY? ALL AT RIDGEWWOD TAXPAYER EXPENSE. That single benefit amounts to a 1000% raise for Paul over his $3000.00 per year Council salary. And he has the nerve to make a big deal about a 6% raise for the Village Manager. Yes that’s right 6%..not 12% as he would like you to believe. Check the records, it’s all public information…

  1. This smug joker, will get re-elected and his actions will be useless if we all just vote for Jane Shinozuka and Keith Killion! He may be against 12% as most of this town agrees but his Benedict Arnold Flip Flop is disgraceful!

I hope he suffers 4 years of wasteful service if elected!

Just say NO, to Paul Arogant-SHUN! Wake UP Ridgewood!!!!!

  2. Aronsohn worked and supported Bill Clinton…ENOUGH SAID…wake up people!

  3. UnelectAronsohn.com

  4. Aronsohn was Jim McGreavy’s press secretary. A class act!

  5. Ridgewood residents don’t like professional politicians…Ridgewood is a neighborhood, we are all eachothers neighbor and we have always chosen to have our governing body relfect those neighborly values.

We don’t like slick, paid-for-candidates and our Ridgewood Village Hall is not a launching pad for ambitious shmucks!

  6. For the record, CRR has made NO official statement asking members to rescind support for Paul Aronsohn. Any efforts of this kind are being carried by individuals.

  7. Valley, shoudn’t still be the main issue in this town but it is.

Enough already, please rescind the H-Zone so we can tackle other issues. How can we do this without lawsuits? Let me guess, you can’t?

Valley has, and still is, causing this town a lot of pain and taxpayers money! Do they really have $350 Million dollars to get what they want? Wow, we as a town need to and must unite against Valley’s overexpansion. Pascack Valley, re-opening should make them renew within their structure now! They are putting themselves in danger and will blame us if they did fail. Which they won’t. They are a non-profit, non-taxpaying, trust fund-baby. They have heard about PILOT but think that’s the person who will be PILOTing only paying victims to their Helipad once they get this McMansion of a hospital. Are you awake Ridgewood? Does over 30-60 years of No, now mean Yes? The H-Zone is there to protect us. The existing Valley structure is already too large for this piece of land. Do not drink the Valley Kool-Aid, we will all die and we can’t reverse this mistake! The intelligent voters will vote for Shinozuka and Killion only. The people who are making big money off of Valley, are the other candidates. Right Al Pucciarelli? etc, etc

  8. Paul has recently stated point blank that he DOES NOT receive any medical benefits–or other benefits–as a council member. Any medical benefits council members received ended in 2010. I have not double checked this myself with village hall, but this is what he has stated in recent weeks.

Almost everyone I know in town was against the raise for the village manager–I don’t know who you hang out with. People with money to burn, perhaps, or who don’t think the raise was a symbolic mistake in this economic climate and with all the recent layoffs and budget cuts? People who are happy the library is closed on Sundays? People who thought Mr. Gabbart did a good job this past fall? Who on earth are those people?

Paul is far from perfect, and although I did not watch the very end of the debate on TV, I did not really like what I heard he did in telling people to vote for him, Gwenn, and Al– but he is better than several of the alternatives. So, he will get my vote. I met Gwenn for the first time at a coffee last week–she is smart and makes sense and does not blow her own horn. She actually takes the time to do research, too. She cares about FACTS and DATA, unlike some of the others who just seem to like to hear their own voice. She, too, will get my vote–as she has clearly stated that ANY pool project is a no-go for her.

    1. Melissa,
Paul recently stated he DOES receive taxpayer funded medical benefits as he is eligible until summer of 2012(patch article 04/25/2012). In fact, the likelihood is Paul supplements his income at the expense of Village Taxpayers. By refusing health care from his employer he likely has the option of taking the value of that insurance as cash instead. To this he refuses to answer and, since it took him so long to respond to calls about Taxpayer funded health insurance he has lost my vote.
His continued effort to obfuscate his own personal gains while making such an issue over the Gabbert raise (which I disagree with) is disingenuous and unfair.

Melissa here is the quote from the patch article & link.

“Aronsohn also addressed criticism he’s accepted health benefits from the village as a part-time councilman. The councilman said he’s received publicly-funded health benefits from Ridgewood, which he called common practice for council members. He was grandfathered into eligibility before a new state law was enacted.
Once sworn into office in summer of 2012, no council member is eligible to receive health benefits through the village. Aronsohn said he supports the change in the law and has made arrangements to receive private health care coverage.”

  9. When Mr Aronsohn made his decision to attack other members at the podium he showed his true colors. This attack dog style is unacceptable in a Village like ours where our government consists of moms and retirees and part-time elected officials. He’s either calculating to win by dividing the town, or simply demonstrating an intemperent and undisciplined nature. In either case, he’s really overstayed his welcome on the council. I’d rather see Ridgewood physically paved over in concrete before allowing his type to turn Ridgewood into a bitter big-city political swillhole.

    1. After watching his body language and listening to Aronsohn ask Village residents to “do one thing for me” I have come to realize, not only is he a bully, he is a narcissist. What makes Aronsohn think anyone would compromise their own beliefs just to help him become mayor? Regardless of what he says the truth is being Mayor is really what it is about. That is his goal. Narcissist .

  10. The 12% retroactive raise for one person was bad enough in that it will make it almost impossible to pull any concessions out of any of the unions the Village has contracts with let alone cuts or rollbacks to future contracts. But what is really amazing is that the 7% raises Killion gave the police department is never even mentioned. I’ve got to think that 7% for an entire department far outweighs and causes a lot more repurcussions than 12% for one individual.

  11. I will be very happy when the election is over for the main reason is i have never seen so many misinformed people in my life with one exception every four years when voting for the president.
    Duplicate not intended.

  12. So #11 are we just making stuff up now? 7% for the police and they have unicorns in there too.
