Garfield NJ, in a tragic incident on Wednesday afternoon, a pedestrian was struck and fatally injured by a NJ Transit train in Garfield. The incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. near Plauderville Station, close to Van Winkle Avenue, according to an agency spokesperson. The identity of the pedestrian has not been released.
Details of the Incident
The pedestrian was hit by Port Jervis Line train No. 64, which was en route to Hoboken and scheduled to arrive at 3:54 p.m. Fortunately, none of the approximately 125 passengers and crew members on board were injured.
Immediate Response and Investigation
Following the incident, New Jersey Transit Police quickly responded to the scene and initiated an investigation. The train was delayed at the station as authorities worked to understand the circumstances surrounding the tragic event.
Officials identified the pedestrian struck and killed by a New Jersey Transit train in Garfield on Wednesday, Tara Yannette, a 32-year-old resident of Wallington.
