Ridgewood NJ, the pedestrian plaza was cancelled on Sunday due to inclement weather . This means all the streets in the Central Business District (CBD) are wide open. Which brings up an interesting point of contention. Merchants were told once the pedestrian plaza was set up it was there for the weekend , rain or shine. So what changed ? Seems rumblings from the merchants and many restaurants are that the pedestrian plaza has failed to bring in the business . Many of the social media boosters who said they would never shop in Ridgewood if there was no pedestrian plaza , have never shopped in Ridgewood .Much of the Village Council like the social media boosters have abandoned the Village central business district for the Jersey shore.
So is the reopening of the CBD an admission that it’s not really working out as planned ? The pedestrian plaza was doomed from the start because no one in the council took the time to listen to the business owners and attempt to meet their needs and their customers needs. They only listened to their supporters with no skin in the game and who are never in the Ridgewood CBD, who echoed their own ignorance. The flaws in the plan were obvious from the start and decisions were made based on local politics and ego aggrandizement.

Running out of money?
If this was done maybe 3-4 times during the summer it would have been an actual success. The fact that it is every weekend from June to October is way over kill. People are either away or already bored with the concept.
The Facebook gang of bullies that pushed for this in the last election were all like little kids. They wanted something just because they couldn’t have it. Once they got everything they wanted and then some, boredom set in and now no one cares.
Again, it’s this clueless council majority serving their small group of supporters and not doing what’s best for the real majority of residents.
They should Cancel it period !! Epic Failure !!!

Now how to fit the parking garage into it………………………
Some of you obviously don’t go to the pedestrian plaza on the weekends. it’s a huge success. You pick on the rainy weekend when everything has been cancelled. Nice try.
Just an outright lie
Businesses would do better if it was open to traffic. Its limited to those who plan their day to attend. Zero pass thru traffic. The business that has the most success is Steel Wheels..sits outside the bullpen.
Are you kidding??? ALL The business are hurting because of it. Open your eyes !!! Wait, you voted for pompous A$$ Paul didn’t you?
Photo suggests that the new garbage cans are too hard to use.
Its like a carnival game just to throw out trash.
It’s not working out. A few times a year is ok . That’s it. My friend owns a business and it’s not even worth the time. Hey we tried it. Can we please have the bus station fixed up. That’s something that needs fixing.
Streets are in horrible shape too.
