Investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Palisades Park Police Arrests Florida Man For Sexually Assaulting a Child

Palisades Park NJ, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella announced the arrest of JOEY PEREZ (DOB: 9/26/1980; single; unemployed) of Miami, Florida on sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child charges. The arrest is the result of an investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office under the direction of Chief Jason Love and the Palisades Park Police Department under the direction of Officer-in-Charge Captain Anthony Espino.

In February 2022, the Palisades Park Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding the alleged sexual assault of a child. An investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Palisades Park Police Department revealed that JOEY PEREZ sexually assaulted a child who was between the ages of 13 and 16 in Palisades Park, NJ in November 2021.

As a result of the investigation, on Tuesday, August 23, 2022, JOEY PEREZ was arrested in Sunrise, Florida and charged with two counts of second-degree sexual assault, N.J.S.A. 2C:14-2b; and one count of third-degree endangering the welfare of a child, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a(1). PEREZ had been incarcerated at the Broward County (Florida) Correctional Facility and then extradited to New Jersey.

Prosecutor Musella states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, and he would like to thank the Palisades Park Police Department, the Sunrise (FL) Police Department, the Fort Lauderdale (FL) Police Department, and the Miami-Dade (FL) Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.
