Ridgewood NJ, A potentially devastating house fire was quickly contained Tuesday morning, May 5, 2026, thanks to the rapid intervention of the Ridgewood Fire Department.
Early Detection and Expert Response
Around 8:00 AM, the Ridgewood FD A-Platoon was dispatched to a single-family home in the 600 block of Arcadia Road. Even before arriving on the scene, the responding Captain utilized dispatch data to proactively call for a “working fire assignment,” ensuring maximum resources were available immediately.
Upon arrival, crews encountered a smoky scene originating from the basement. Because the captain and crew acted decisively, the fire was quickly extinguished before it could spread to the upper floors of the residence.
All Occupants Safe
The most important news of the morning: everyone is safe. * Evacuation: All residents had successfully evacuated the home before the Ridgewood Police and Fire personnel arrived.

No Injuries: No injuries were reported for the occupants or the firefighters working the scene.

Property Saved: After the fire was suppressed, the home was turned back over to the residents.
Mutual Aid and Ongoing Investigation
The Glen Rock Volunteer Fire Department provided critical on-site support, showcasing the effective mutual aid system within Bergen County. The Ridgewood Police Department also assisted with scene safety.
