Reader asks So Murphy gets 17% more votes than Guadagno in Ridgewood, what gives?

Phil Murphy

I posted this on the election results topic but also bringing it here because I am very curious:
So Murphy gets 17% more votes than Guadagno in Ridgewood. I just can’t understand for the life of me how people who have a great town (compared to many other areas in NJ) vote so overwhelmingly for someone who promises to basically turn NJ upside down with the sanctuary and “fairer state” promises!!!! I mean this guy basically says I will raise your taxes, I will surround you with illegal emigrants and low income people and I will make you pay for them and in the process I will lower your property value and badly damage your quality of life. How do you vote for him????? How can white, rich people who make their $$$$ in capitalism vote for a socialist?? I understand his promises are very appealing to Paterson, Jersey City, Elizabeth, Clifton etc. but I just don’t get where the appeal is for Ridgewood?? I know many voted against Christie but Christie wasn’t even on the ballot.
Anybody cares to chip in? I am speechless.

  1. Its fake liberals. They want to “help” poor towns but don’t want to go and live there.

  2. This post is precisely why Ridgewood is widely seen as a bunch or rich white snobs.

  3. Baffling. I understand a backlash against Trump but voting for Murphy if you live in Ridgewood is just plain dumb.

  4. Jersey City voted 91% for Murphy and Jersey City is bankrupt – that right there is a clue as to NJ’s future

  5. I’m speechless that Trump got elected.

    1. people voted against the swamp and Hillary is the swamp

  6. Compassion?

  7. Compassion?

    1. guess you never worked on wall street

  8. It’s funny to see all the Republican snowflakes come out against Murphy. The same who said “Let’s give Dictator Trump a chance”. The hypocrisy is just baffling. Can we let the guy get in office and implement some policies before we judge?

    1. lol , “Let’s give Dictator Trump a chance”. Dictator watch MSNBC much any evidence or just inane late night talk show comedy central talking points ???

  9. Based on Murphy’s desire to raise taxes by 1.5 billion in the most high taxed state in the country as well as legalizing recreational marijuana, sancutuary state status, how can anyone, regardless of party, vote to furthur destroy NJ? It is beyond comprehension.

  10. Just more proof that Ridgewood’s glory days are behind it. We are on a glide path to ruin.
Don’t worry, it will be smooth and gradual,,, you won’t even notice your own demise. You might even enjoy it… just like the frog who does not try to escape the pot so long as he is boiled very very slowly.

  11. Right on 8:58 this is what happens when all the left wing liberals from Manhattan move here.
    RIP good old Ridgewood

  12. You people make me sick. Thank god I chose a town other than Ridgewood. You are bigoted, amoral, selfish, blind and greedy.

Many years ago, I witnessed a bunch of Ridgewood kids insulting and bullying a Hispanic kid working at a fast food chain. Right then, I chose to stay as far away from Ridgewood as I could. Clearly, nothing has changed. This is why I do not spend my money in your town, why I never eat there, why my kids go to school elsewhere.

Americans are better than that. Guess you all are not.

And, if it matters, I am in the 1%.

    1. people are bigots because they don’t want to keep more of there hard earned money? , fyi not really seeing how any Democrat policies have helped anyone over the 50 years but go head I am waiting

  13. Did you read this post? It is a racist rant hidden behind claims of losing money. Guess what? People in Ridgewood can afford it. People in Paterson and Jersey City cannot afford their lives NOW. No one the previous commenter is disgusted. So am I.

I live one town over from you and my money will no longer be spent in Ridgewood. You are disgusting people.

    1. love the fake emails

  14. @Victoria it’s very refreshing to see somebody not hide behind anonymity especially when saying something that will rile these people up. I completely agree with you. Although growing up here I know these people aren’t necessarily the majority, just the most vocal. I also went to school with many kids who act as you described… had to learn that kind of behavior somewhere didn’t they ?

    1. love the fake emails , and looks like you need a history lesson

  15. I love the “Know it Alls” who automatically assume if you live in Ridgewood you are “rich” and prejudiced. I know those who have money make a lot of noise but there are others living here who are not mega-rich.
