Reader calls it,”collective greed and union fueled expectations of more more more”

“Such excellent commentary from fair minded people calling out Fishbien and the REA for what they truly are… have never been”doing it for the children” as they tell you every other second but just concerned for their over the top pay and how to continue getting paid for half an effort..the teacher as hero myth had truly been debunked forever now…”Sorry Billy, Mrs Jones doesn’t really care if she ever sees you again” the children will quickly learn this and remember for their lives..no memories of nice empathetic classroom leaders just a money grabbing union worker…disgraceful.
How NOT ONE teacher feels it in their soul that this set up is unfair to the parents and taxpayers of Ridgewood belies their collective greed and union fueled expectations of more more more…NOT ONE voice calling for some sort of give back to the generous community during these highly stressful family conditions is unconscionable and sad.”

  1. It’s not Dr. Fishbein. It’s the NJEA, the REA, and ridiculous teacher giveaways like the CARES Act which allows teachers to take 17 weeks of paid time off at 60% of their salaries.

Governor Murphy is owned by the unions and is their puppet on a string. He’ll robotically do whatever they say given NJEA and TPAF members got him elected.

So if they say no return to physical school, what are the local school boards and Superintendents supposed to do? They cannot staff their schools.

The kids and the local property tax payers are the losers.

  2. While I believe that most teachers do care about their students, the unions and at time the administration do not.

  3. Honestly, if the NJEA, REA and teachers say they can’t go back now, when can they go back? Will we just have to wait until there is a vaccine or cure? Because that’s basically what the teachers union is saying.

NJ has flattened the curve, with basically no new transmission in Ridgewood. The schools have never been cleaner. They’ve installed HEPA air filters and ionizers. They have protocols to keep the students and teachers safe and healthy.

The problem is the teacher’s union (NJEA, REA) is saying they don’t feel it is safe for their teachers to teach at the schools. So the Board of Ed can’t staff the schools. It’s the union, not the school board. And in NJ, the union always wins.

The kids, their parents and local taxpayers are the losers.

Superintendent Fishbein and the Trustees of the Ridgewood District Board of Ed might be in for some sympathy on this count but for the fact that on almost every other occasion known to man they act in ways that are at worst neutral toward the interests of those unions and their members as against those of parents and taxpayers, but usually cheerleading-style rhetoric and “fat thumb on the scale”-type favoritism intended to protect and advance the self-serving priorities and the (oft unstated) political agenda of the teachers’ unions.

  5. If they are going to open up the schools, I hope they’re going to fully stocked the bathrooms. Because in the past many times they had no toilet paper, no soap, no paper towels to dry hands, not enough hot water in the bathrooms and ventilation .And this has all been documented.

  6. This is not about unions, it’s about political decisions.
Don’t you know in this day and age individuals don’t likeMaking decisions

  7. Political decisions driven by the teachers, police and FF unions who bought and paid for Gov. Murphy by instructing their membership to vote for him and his fellow Dumbocrats in Trenton. Murphy has to do whatever they tell him.

  8. FYI. HEPA filters do not do anything meaningful with respect to viruses.
It’s a massive hoax to get people to feel more comfortable about going to back to their jobs. This is fact.

  9. You are some bitter, sad people. You live on some of the most blessed ground in the World and all you do is whine. It you don’t like the taxes, Leave! If you don’t like the administrators, VOTE. If you don’t like being Part of the Solution, Be a Part of the Problem…SOMEWHERE ELSE! It seems to me a whole lot of you told me to love it or leave, I did, I am happy. And I don’t miss you one bit. You get what you deserve. Quit whining!
