RE: “Since Inception the Ridgewood Education Foundation has donated more than $1,000,000 to our public schools and community”
The Ridgewood Education Foundation hasn’t donated a PENNY to the schools…. they just shame/bully/cajole/guilt the parents into paying EVEN MORE into an overpriced school system (which is experiencing dwindling returns each year as its value gets reduced to a bumper sticker with no value: “tradition of excellence”)
“Tradition of excellence” cracks me up every time I see it.
Evidence? I am interested to hear more.
Prove it.
As a former President of the Ridgewood Education Foundation and current Trustee of the Ridgewood Public Schools, I can state that this comment is completely incorrect. Through the Foundations contributions, the high school and middle schools have been able to give each student a Chromebook. The Foundation contributed significantly to the Maker’s Space at the high school and the renovations in the BF & GW science facilities. Over the years the Foundation has contributed mightily to the Ridgewood schools. There is no basis in fact whatsoever for this posting. The Foundation is an all volunteer organization that works exclusively for the children of Ridgewood.
This is typical Ridgewood Blog bullshit and lies.
Ridgewood’s “EXCELLENCE” has been declining for years–but even many years ago it was questionable. We moved here from an inner city school and I attempted to register them in a local school. (We are only talking K, 1st and 2nd grades.) I was politely told by 2 teachers and “How did I ever get stuck with her? I had a boy first semester who I finally got promoted to first grade, and NOW I get your daughter.” from the third. We’re talking a long time ago when Ridgewood was one of the Nationally ranked schools. All three teachers did not want our children in the school as “they were too far ahead of the others.” So, we were forced to go private for 6-8 years. Even in the high school, our son was lazy. He had started by telling his 3rd grade teacher in the Ridgewood school system that “Book reports don’t fit in my lifestyle.” and she accepted that as a reason why he, of his entire reading group, only submitted one report instead of monthly. He got by with many such dumb excuses throughout his whole Ridgewood career. So Ridgewood has been excellent is your child is a self starter but rotten for the normal student.
I believe the REF means well bust as long as the REA pulls its usual strongarm tactics, the funds are pi$$ed away by the dead wood at all school levels and BoE. Also, the really great teachers know who the dead wood teacher are – like the Weinstein scandal – it’s an open secret.
