There is a big difference between volunteering and knowing how to manage or even understand a municipal budget. Mrs. Hauck is a long time community volunteer that brings a passion for the Library . Unfortunatel, comments like this one shine a bright light on her lack of experience in making difficult budget decisions. Community volunteers are a wonderful asset yet the act of volunteering itself does not qualify one to sit on the Council.
Mr. Albano’s profile is very similar to Mrs. Hauck’s. He is a long time volunteer with a passion for a single organization but not much municipal experience beyond that. Please consider that on May 13.

Exactly where is the list of qualifications for becoming a councilperson? I thought all you had to be was a breathing resident over the age of 18 to qualify…..

The point that was being made is that Hauck is not a great choice and neither is Albano. No one was saying that she didn’t meet the requirements to run or to be elected. Stop the nonesense.
this is all bull shit, you may run and win, but if you don’t walk the same beet as the rest of the crew you will not last.
She has done a lot for the community in her volunteer work and I do not think that it is fair to try to minimize her achievements. She is qualified and she was elected. If someone thinks that he/she can do better then run.
Unfortunately #6 the Mayor, Mrs. Hauck and Mr. Pucciarelli will be with us for 3 more years. Let’s not make the same mistake with Mr Albano next month. This team does not need another follower regardless of what beet he walks to.
Gwenn Hauck has brought many wonderful things to this village and administration. It is painful to read and watch her be criticized. Her very ideas are why people want to stay in Ridgewood.
Municipal budgets are an exact science! MONEY IN AND MONEY OUT!!! Clearly Gwenn Hauck has more than done her job on that issue. Her comment about the library was a statement of spending as much money expanding our minds as we spend protecting the village.
Perhaps her humility and beauty give others cause to stab!

Ms. Hauck’s nasty vindictive side has been clearly seen on several occasions. She has verbally attacked Councilwoman Walsh, Chief Ward, and Councilman Riche, to name a few. Humility? No. Beauty? seriously, who brings physical appearance into a discussion of qualifications? would you say that Mr. Pucciarelli is handsome, and that is why some disagree with him?
Unfortunately when you are elected to public office you will be subject to criticism. It may not be fair but it comes with the job. Mrs. Hauck’s affiliation with the Library has been high profile and long standing. Her somewhat naive comments in support of public funding for the Library are naturally going to come under fire from the more fiscally realistic among us.
She is also a long standing and high profile fundraiser for Valley Hospital. She ran for office with the support of Valley’s CEO and has since bristled at criticism from those opposed to the Valley expansion.
She seems to lack a broader understanding of her constituency in that there are decent people on both sides of the fights she has taken up. Anyone that opposes her views are subject to being labeled as mean or unreasonable.

You are 100% correct. She won. End of story. Those whose opinion differs from her’s use the blog to make nasty comments. I don’t know here personally but I respect anyone who takes the time to run for public office and puts up with this bullshit.
or you could send someones employer an anonymous email or and email from Ridgewood soccer mom or even make threatening calls late at night or my personal favorite you can pick on their kids in school , so which do you do?
