I cannot believe that Ridgewood would buy that property without remediation by the present owners. They rushed in to buy it before Ridgewood could finalize their decision to buy. They knew they would make a large profit on it as they knew Ridgewood would eventually buy it from them. They knew massive amounts of remediation were necessary but bought it anyway. If we let them get by with that–and the names of the purchasers should show very familiar names–they have succeeded in proving that Ridgewood can be suckered as they originally believed. Wake up Council! Make them clean it up, or reduce the price by the cost of cleaning. That would probably leave them in the hole on the purchase. The buyers knew what they were doing. Does Ridgewood?
Like I always said the village in Ridgewood is one big scam. They do whatever they like, sometimes They get caught , Sometimes they don’t. It’s the chance they take . It’s almost like they have a playbook and they are not sharing it with anyone else. This play but must be hidden somewhere in their archives. Because it doesn’t matter if there’s a new mayor and council or top managers , It’s still dirty business. Lately Some of these municipality’s. make the mafia look like Boy Scouts. It’s amazing
how about we just declare the site a blight and either have the owners clean it up or lose the property to eminent domain.
I completely agree – make the owners pay for clean up or no deal! Does anyone know the parties involved – the ones who purchased this way back when at the time Ridgewood was considering buying it? It would be an obscene injustice to the taxpayers to buy it “as is.”
