Reader says I do not trust them and I don’t want them touching the Village codes.

Even though it’s probably important to update the code, I shudder at who is doing it. They know nothing–any of them–including and especially Rogers. And I do not trust their motivations whatsoever. With any luck they’ll be too busy to do very much, and then the project can continue after the next council has replaced Rogers and Sonenfeld.

Past bad acts are still past bad acts on behalf of the village manager and council. This does not absolve them from their sins.

“In order to complete the project without an astronomical cost to the village, it was announced by Sonenfeld last week that Rogers would be doing the work free of charge.

“The cost for this would be significant,” said the attorney. “I just felt it was something that should be done, needs to be done and I wanted to get it done. The only way to do it was to donate the time.”

I wonder how much this complete overhaul will cost? I can see some very large bills from outside counsel coming as I don’t expect any of our in-house legal beagles to be up to the task.

Robertas letter to the editor last week: “..when we find an issue or a problem or an ordinance that is outdated, we don’t ignore it – we fix it.”

CORRECTION: when we find an issue or a problem or an ordinance that is outdated, WE IGNORE IT, do whatever the hell we want, and then when Knudsen, Sedon, or a member of the public pints this out we decide to fix it after the fact.

Roberta has done this multiple times in she short train wreck of a tenure with us

  1. Have you noticed that all these thing are coming to a head just before the 2016 election. I wondering if they are trying to push thing through in case they are not re elected. Next will be the rebuilding of the Library and the new performing arts center. You know The Ridgewood PAC . The 3 Amigos had a larger support group from the Library during their last election. Not to mention that 2 of the 3 Amigos were on the Library Board along with Mr. Saracion.

  2. There is definitely a rush to complete projects promised without basis, especially that first shovel in the ground for the apartments. Did you see their faces when it began to become clear that they would not be able to push those ordinances through on Wednesday? And how angry Saraceno was? Yeah, they promised a lot to a lot and some of those chickens are coming home to roost. For all we know, the entire code is being rewritten as a smokescreen for just a couple of ordinances like the loophole that allowed this entire mess, including Valley’s demands, to happen. We should remain alert during this probably boring process and demand that as each ordinance is rewritten, the old and new versions be published so that we can comment before the change is made officially.

  3. The 3 Amigos a have a few months left. I would how much more damage they can do?

  4. Hopefully they’ll update Village Code to allow for Class II “specials” to handle the extra-duty work for PSE&G, Verizon, etc currently undertaken by regular officers. If our full-time officers have so much free-rime to do extra-duty work, why are they ringing up such massive OT bills year after year? They sit in Village cars using Village gas, Village mobile minutes, and Village depreciation expense & repair on the vehicles…. and rate payers bear the cost one way or another away, i.e. lose lose whether through higher utility & phone bills, or higher priority taxes. It’s win-win for those who do the work.

  5. The last Village Manager wanted volunteers staffing Engine Company No. 31 at 311 West Glen on weekends, so maybe Village Code can be amended to allow for that. It seems like a luxury to pay for a full-time, three person crew on duty 24 hours a day when current Fire Headquarters are located at 201 E. Glen Avenue only 0.9 miles away and most Villages our size don’t even have full-time departments.

  6. 5:32 the Village tax payers do not pay for the cops that currently do extra duty jobs the contractors does. Matter of fact if you look at the Village budget report you will also see that the Village made a substantial amount of money from these contractors after the cops were paid. Yes 5:41 and Im sure you would be the first one to volunteer. Or you you expect the other people to do it.

  7. Yes 5:32 and 5:41 let distract everyone and bring up the cops and fireman. Not the real problem of the 3 Amigos and their Field Marshal wanting to manipulate the code book to their advantage. You must have attend one of the Mayor’s seminars on communication and how misdirect. Congratulation you must have gotten an A

  8. 10:50, are we PSE&G rate payers as well, or not?

  9. 10:50am, that’s pure BS and more Union lies and you know it
