Reader says if people don’t speak up, nothing is going to be done to stop the next round of over-development

CBD high density housing

Folks have tried to change the Aronson laws that were passed to allow these projects to go forward. The basic enabling law was repealed by the new council. Other attempts were made. But, frankly, due to a lack of backbone on the Council, the Aronson Apartment projects are going forward.

This council and planning board could have done a whole lot more, but they chose not to for reasons only they can explain – – ask them. let them know how you feel. And, don’t forget to let Aronson know how you feel as well about the changes he made to our community in his pathetic pursuit of his personal goals.

Bottom line, however, is that if people don’t speak up, nothing is going to be done to stop the next round of over-development.

  1. Oh Yeah, well only a few spoke up a couple years back when the towns master plan was being changed. Remember the vote was three to two.

Mayor Knudsen and deputy mayor Sedon voted against the change at the time. They were on the council. Aronsohn, Pucciarelli and Hauck voted for the master plan.

Where was everybody then? The few who did speak up were treated like stupid people by Pucciarelli, Aronsohn and Hauck.. Their attitude was arrogant and dismissive and rude. But really, not many challenged the majority council.

The law was passed and everyone stayed mum, or laughed at people like myself who tried to stop it. We were told it was for the betterment of Ridgewood and that people like myself were against progress. So there, you have your progress. It’s too late, now baby, it’s too late.

It’s wrong to blame the present council, but human nature being what it is you will never blame yourself for past inaction. Staying mum , silent when a law that would ruin Ridgewood forever was being passed. Welcome to a second Hackensack.

  2. Time for Valley to return and re-renew!

  3. WHY DONT THEY CHANGE THE MASTER PLAN BACK – AT LEAST STOP ANY FUTURE DISASTERS
