Reader says Mr. Albano is the Mayor’s hand picked candidate

Mr. Albano is the Mayor’s hand picked candidate. That means he’ll get his 90′ field only if Mr. Albano agrees to vote with Mr. Aronsohn, Mrs. Hauck and Mr. Pucciarelli on everything else for his entire term. This is the classic deal with the Devil. Don’t believe me? Look at the voting records of his 3 incumbent and soon to be team mates. Does anyone think it’s a good idea to give our Mayor and this team that much power?

I am a long time supporter of the RBSA and other sports organizations in town but absolutely cannot vote for Mr. Albano under these circumstances. Let’s hope that others in the “sports group” see through what’s going on here.

  1. Many reasons not to vote for Albano this is only one.

  2. all my votes are going for the one’s who keep the services going, that’s that.

  3. Sports It’s an never ending problem in Ridgewood. Have lived here for 67 years and sports will always get their way. If you want a sport person vote for Albano. If you want anything else, especially important things chose any

  4. The last RFD employee to hold public office was Mark Bombace.

I’m sorry but I can’t call that tenure a successful one.

  5. Albano is a good man — but it just seems he’s too tied up with Aronsohn to do us any good.

Man, am I sorry I voted for Aronsohn thinking he was a breath of fresh air. Can’t make the same mistake again.

“Sports are a never ending problem in Ridgewood.” Is that a serious comment???? Some sports organization are better run than others. But, as a collective group, Ridgewood’s sports organization and the volunteers, who allow them to function, do more for families in this town and have a greater positive influence on our children than any other entity.

Nonetheless, the issue with Albano is not that he is involved with RBSA. It is the fact that he is a. Village employee with the RFD. This is a huge conflict of interest. We have not been well served in the past by members of the RFD and RPD, when they served on the Village Council. How short our memories are!!! There should be a Village Ordinance prohibiting active village employees from serving on the Village Council. PERIOD!

  7. #6 That show us how uninformed you really are “Nonetheless, the issue with Albano is not that he is involved with RBSA. It is the fact that he is a. Village employee with the RFD. This is a huge conflict of interest. ” Your ignorance of facts about Village candidates speaks volumes about you and your mindset. For the record Mr. Albano is not a Village employee neither were and Councilperson an active employee. Talk about short memories you can’t even get the fact straight. There is a state law on the book prohibiting employees from being an elected official in the same town. Its ignorant people like you who spread their hatred and misinformation that is causing this town to go down hill.

    1. Bombase was President of the BOE, he tried to sell BF middle school field to Valley Hospital

  8. Which Albano are we talking about here John Albano is a fireman , I thought his brother Jim was running for council?

  9. The blog thread of 4/17 about the candidates meeting to answer questions has James Albano as the candidate. Which is correct please?

  10. James:

Bombase was President of the BOE, he tried to sell BF middle school field to Valley Hospital

Had the BF field been sold and leased back to the BOE under the long-term lease, as proposed, Valley would have placed parking under ground and the entire need for Valley to expand with taller structures today would have been avoided. But, the same NIMBYs, who prevented that plan, are the ones opposing Valley’s expansion plans today.

BTW, part of that proposal was to provide a turf facility at BF for free, which would have saved the BOE (taxpayers) almost $1mm. Go over and look at the “recently improved BF field” today. It is a dirt lot!!! And, the spring season is only 3 weeks old.

In retrospect, working with Valley to create a win/win for the village back when they presented the BF field proposal would have been a pretty good/smart idea. Anyone, who is proud of shooting that idea down is part of the group who is responsible for the current state of Ridgewood.

  11. John Koster wrote in the Villadom Times that Mr. Albano was in the fire department. He was wrong, but that could be the place where some people got their information.

Never assume anything by Koster is accurate. He is not a real reporter.

  12. To all misinformed people. I am john Albano. I am a capt with the RFD. I am not running for council. My brother jim is running. The villadom article was not correct. I emailed the editor about this they didn’t feel it was necessary to make a correction.

    1. thanks for the heads up , i was under the impression the commenter just misspoke

I guess this law only applies to active employees, not retired officials, correct ? Our former Mayor was a retired Police Captain, but shouldn’t the law apply to retired public officials as well ? Seems like a conflict when you have retired officials voting on budgets that fund their old departments and CBAs for their former colleagues ?

  21. Okay, I’ll bite….who are u voting for ?

Interesting #24, so are you saying that an “Aye” on the 2012 Village budget here {https://www2.ridgewoodnj.net/minutes/SPEC6.2612.htm}, which funded the police department’s budget, as well as an “Aye” on the 2010 Budget amendments here {https://www2.ridgewoodnj.net/minutes/SPEC6.1610.htm} which included changes to the Patrolmen’s Benevolent Association (PBA) and Police Superior Officers Association (SOA) contracts amounted to recusals ? Did you want to restate your comments above for the record ?

    1. Mayor Killion like a professional recused himself from the Police contract talks lets not play word games and do story telling .

  24. You want more ? Read the public comments here: https://www2.ridgewoodnj.net/minutes/BUDGET4.109.htm . The May 27th vote that year on the Budget funding all of this was “Aye” (source: https://www2.ridgewoodnj.net/minutes/SpecPubMeeting5-27-09(2).htm ). There was no recusal from the budget vote, which approved the contracts. Those are not word games, those are “Ayes”.

  25. she should recuse herself like the Mayor did

  26. Can you point to some specific minutes on the Village website where there was a recusal ? Looks like all budget votes, which fund the departments including wage increases, were “Ayes” between 2009-12.
