Reader says Ms. Hauck who ran for office for the sole purpose of voting yes on the Valley expansion.

Much as I agree with Valley has been given years to fight for over expansion?, I’m also realistic about the ties that Valley has to Ridgewood’s public officials.

They have a long time associate on the Village Council in Ms. Hauck who ran for office for the sole purpose of voting yes on the Valley expansion. They have a sympathetic attorney on the Planning Board in Ms. Price that has set an absurd schedule that allows Valley’s “experts” to testify without having to questions from the public until weeks later.

Bad as Valley’s plans are for Ridgewood, don’t underestimate their ability to get their way. Valley’s opponents still have a massive uphill battle and should go to all of the meetings and demand accountability from any public official that supports this expansion.

  1. Anyone Running for Council office often has a personal reason…. so what!!

The Council … Mgr. form of Government has its built in controls for abuse and is closely monitored…… voters have their own agenda, that is also closely watch.

  2. This really is not news. What could be news is if she does not recuse herself before voting on something where it is clearly a conflict of interest. Obviously, that would be Valley.

  3. Her personal goals do not trump the fact that she is expected to conduct herself in an honest and impartial manner. She probably does not know this, but there are laws that she must abide by. It is way more complicated than running a golf outing.

  4. Let’s hope so.
