I was one of the big supporters of this VC BUT not anymore. Water restrictions have done it for me. The latest restriction list is total bullshit. It tells me these people have no clue and just try to naively jump the gun. The way these restrictions are escalating means that in a couple of years there won’t be any water allowance for irrigation, pools and just about anything else. We may end up having scheduled water delivery in our home taps, just like in 3rd world countries. And NO I don’t buy the bullshit about the limited capabilities of Ridgewood Water. INVEST and frigging fix the issue. You were elected to resolve issues by finding solutions not taxing people in order to make these problems go away. If you can’t then resign and let someone else do it.
I agree that my respect for the VC has gone down the drain, but the writer isn’t being blunt enough. Rather than fix the problem, The VC and its water department want to turn RW into a southwest town where water is rationed, and lawns and bushes are ripped out and replaced with cactus.
Hey, I don’t know but I’ve been told: That grass is no longer the trendy way fill yard space; better to have native plants, drought resistant plants and shrubs. Plantings that do not require pesticides and herbicides that leak into water supply. Plants that do not require a lot of watering.
For more info on this important topic you can contact the NJ Native Plant Society. Or look up big article the Record had on this topic. Many newspapers and periodicals write articles on this topic. There is a local native plant society too. Members who live in Glen Rock.
Now just a second, We don’t say no grass, we say less grass, minimize.
And here is the best 9:45. Only Rdgewood taxpayers will be given water violation summons the rest6 of the towns have no such ordinance or an enforcement officer.
Its not the council fault its Bush’s fault or maybe Gabbert but not our council. Just ask them.
The other towns have been approached and are expected to follow suit.
The other towns are going to fall in line. Do you want water to be available when your house catches on fire?
5:44 and 7:47 Did they fall in line last year? Check the amount of summons they received and while your at check the amount water they used compare to Ridgewood . Tell your story walking. Are you sure you not the Mayor or one of the Council.
7:47, why are you defending the Banana Republic VC and Ridgewood Water? The Village has no business being in the water business, and anyone who says differently is in on the scam.
What part about this picture don’t you people get? Your worried about water restrictions for your precious grass and said utility is in the middle of a lawsuit that is eventually going to bankrupt it. Get your priorities straightened out…
I would like to know any other town that restricts watering to twice a week. They are out of their minds.
