Reader says The synthetic turf project was a travesty that we will be living with, and paying for, for decades.
That REAC report, its first major public document, was a tremendous disappointment, demonstrating that they were in the hands of the sports people and quickly eliminating any hope that the group would support and defend what it’s supposed to.
A referendum said, “No turf.”
The slide show presentation at the DEP hearing at the Ed Center was overwhelmingly against the synthetic turf, with ample scientific proof and other supportive research.
So of course we got the turf.
The synthetic turf project was a travesty that we will be living with, and paying for, for decades.
Decisions based on a referendum is also dangerous….
Turfing the stadium has been great for the kids — the people who are complaining obviously don’t have kids at the high school or in sports programs
Turf & Valley Hospital?
Wait this title also fits here:
Valley Hospital will be.. “a travesty that we will be living with, and paying for, for decades…”
Why is Valley given years to fight for over expansion? Can no one in this town grow a set and just say NO?
Fact: Valley, has plenty of room to expand they just have not been told to do so at their Paramus location. Happens to be a much better option! Not next to a school, ruining generations of classes there. Wake up Planning Board and Council!
Main Fact: Ridgewood as a whole will suffer? Valley pays no taxes, every taxpayer in town will now have to pay for the extra services (more police, more fireman) needed to support this over expansion. Wake up everyone in Ridgewood…Valley should expand in Paramus, sure you can update within your Ridgewood address. Please GO AWAY VALLEY. I said Please!
#3 — the turf issue and the Valley expansion issue are completely different — don’t hijack this thread to spout your anti-Valley ideas
Think back to when the High School football field was so prone to damage only the football team and the marching band was allowed to set foot on it. Then tell me why it is such a bad thing that the field has artificial turf.
Valley should buy KMart from Sears. Wait, Valley should buy Paramus.
Why would Paramus want it ?
Hijack #4?, these two subjects have similar effects on Ridgewood. Valley, just happens to be the most important problem in this town. Turf, is done and we are still crying about it. Valley, if approved will ruin the entire town not just the fields. Turf, is like carpeting and wood floors; it’s okay in some areas just not everywhere…get it?
You’re right, it is by far the most important problem(among a growing number) in this town. Fascinating how short-sighted the supporters are. They just don’t get it.
Maybe we need to turf the whole town.
The grass at Somerville and Kenilworth has been destroyed by some kind of fertilizer.
Send Boyd over there with his camera.
New slogan: Turf Valley.
