And thank you for overturning the stupid videotaping rule.
And thank you for extending the public comments.
And thank you for being polite to everyone, even those who spit at you. Aronsohn and Roberta and Albert and Gwenn never ever tolerated those who disagreed with them.
And thank you for saving Schedler.
And thank you for reducing the lights at Habernickel.
And oh….thank you for accepting the RESIGNATION of Roberta.
Now maybe you could fix that stupid Wilsey Square underpass bike lane mess?????
The Long Green line….if you come from Wilsey and go east under the underpass (towards Smith Brothers) the green lane suddenly disappears. A right turn only lane appears.
So why bother protecting bikers for a little while only to expose them to drivers that are going to roll through a red light anyway…?
The bike lane was a stupid waste of money by Roberta and the 3 Amigos and it needs to go. It constricts traffic flow causing back ups on both sides of the track and I have never seen a single bike on that stupid pathway. Get rid of it !!
I don’t know about anyone else, but if there are no bikes in the bike lane (there rarely are, other than on weekend mornings when the lycra brigades hit Starbucks in their $5,000 bikes and other unnecessarily expensive road cycle subculture accessories), I help myself to it. No need to throw good money after bad.
In the spirit of conquering the PC hegemony, let’s commit to defeating the “Traffic Calming” narrative…
To the 3 Amigos: See, you didn’t have to get all stupid while running this Village? Just use some simple common sense.
The bike lane was a dumb idea. I have never seen anyone use it and if they do it’s a dangerous situation. I say get rid of it and open up both traffic lanes to cars. Hopefully this will be done right after they knock down the permanent planters installed at it’s greek to me and at other places in town. I will boycott It’s greek to me until they come down..
Regarding It’s Greek to Me, all it will take to remove those walls is for someone with a beater truck, snowplow or front end loader (hint hint) to give one or both of them a decent nudge in the middle of the night during the next snowstorm. Problem solved. If he tries to sue the Village for damages, ask him for the permits and assessment paperwork associated with the construction of said walls.
Remove anything that cant be moved inside by hand. IGTM and others look permanent or too heavy to move
The divider AND the long green mile BOTH need to b removed. Bring back the 2 lanes on both sides and b done with this disaster b 4 some dope has the balls to actually USE the bike lane.
I couldn’t care less if they keep it single lane or revert to two-lanes, but I see nothing but a very expensive eventual lawsuit when a cyclist is killed because of the death-traps at either ends.
I am boycotting Mango Jam too. Paulie and Tony can go pound salt.
I see a green road and I want it painted black.
The useless bike lane had to be included in order to receive state and federal funds.
Other people’s money… ours
The government is out of control
All of you, stop pretending to care about the safety of cyclists. Cyclists want the lane there… maybe one day it will connect to a larger network. It was put there because there was no safe way for cyclists to cross the tracks, and they didn’t want cyclists using the underpass meant for pedestrians. I have personally used the bike line and I’m grateful it’s there. The lane was put there because of the Complete Streets program that most municipalities now use to plan the redesign of public spaces — complete streets considers ALL USERS of public space, not just drivers. The bike lane is here to stay, and I encourage everyone to try it out sometime!
8:06 it is not safe for bicyclists or for the drivers who would never want to hit a cyclist. Complete Streets is an excellent program. This is a nightmare of a solution. It is not a solution at all. Needs to be fixed.
8:18 If you would never want to hit a cyclist, just don’t drive in the bike lane. It’s that simple! Using a disingenuous concern for cyclist safety as a reason to remove a bike lane is laughable.
8:18 you are compelled to drive into to the bike lane at two points so your disingenuous posting is laughable.
If this village cared about complete streets then they would have put sidewalks on Clinton. They didn’t to give a big favor to Paul and Al’s buddy so that excuse is complete rubbish.
Second, that is a half ass attempt at complete streets as the lane does not truly finish. How about doing what we always do with cyclists? Why do they need their own lane in a major artery in town? Let’s go back to sharing the road, and if that means going very slowly behind them so be it. Third, a small minority of cyclists use it. I see many many cyclists on the sidewalk still.
Lastly, the change has made it less safe for drivers and pedestrians of which there are many many more in town. Paint it black!
Well this is off subject but I do not know where else to post it. The Ridgewood News today has a great article about the high density housing fight. A lawsuit indicates that Pucciarelli should have recused way earlier than he did. When asked by the reporter to comment Mr. Pucciarelli declined. Love it. Mr. Big talker who could not shut up ever when he was on the dais now has his mouth shut. Have a crappy weekend Big Al the Developers Pal.
