Reader says When the BOE accepted the $500,000 from Valley there was no chance the BOE would speak out against the Expansion

Interestingly Dr. Fishbein did speak out against the buildings being planned for the CBD, where there is no school in close proximity, hmmmm

The answer to whether the BOE will weigh in or not is in paragraph 4. When the BOE accepted the $500,000 from Valley any chance that they would speak out against the Expansion went right out the window. There is no chance that the BOE will come out publicly against the expansion. Zero. It won’t happen.

With 80+% of their budget tied up in salaries and benefits and absolutely no appetite for cost cutting and headcount reduction, (See latest administration hirings) $500,000 is a god send to the BOE. They will not jeapordize that. Expect nothing but silence from the BOE.

  1. Smart Board!

  2. Corrupt Board!

  3. What was the money for?

  4. If he does not, he should be fired.

  5. Don’t get confused. There is a big difference between the BOE and the Administration. The administrators run the school system. They are employees of the BOE. The BOE sets policy. The BOE is elected by the Ridgewood tax payers. It is the BOE, not the Administration that should be weighing in on where the Ridgewood School System stands in regards to the Valley expansion. I believe at least a couple of the current BOE members ran for election with their anti-expansion feelings out in the open. Will be interesting to see if they still feel that way.

Tough to say “No” to $500,000. Maybe the Village of Ridgewood’s “Gift Policy” doesn’t look so bad right now.

  6. No to mention Valley + RHS RAHP intimate relationship.

  7. #2…are you accusing board members of pocketing the money?

  8. #7 – Residents are now being treated so unfairly and disrespectfully by Valley hospital and its counsel – well, we don’t know what to believe anymore. It’s beyond belief that this thing has gone on as long as it has. And now we are simply unable to voice our opposition to Valley’s enormous expansion.

It’s easy to imagine there is some dirty dealing happening

  9. Don’t be naive people. The only remaining explanation to the surreal proceedings on the Valley expansion is money. Valley has bought influence at every level of government in town. They also have deep enough pockets to be a threat to the town legally if they don’t get their way.

And where there aren’t direct cash transactions, there are conflicts of interest everywhere. Councilwoman Hauck was a Valley Vice President and ran their black tie fundraisers for several years. PB Member Mr Grant works for Turner Construction and only makes a living when projects like this get approved. Councilman Pucciarelli has done work for Valley as well, and while he has temporarily recused himself, he’s making noise about rescinding his recusal
