Reader suggests:Businesses should in the CBD should Pick up the Shortfall on the Garage

“The present council is at fault for passing parking garage not knowing the financial facts. Kiosks should have been installed First to see if they indeed were profitable. The current council did not have to pass the garage. I was not for it. They increased the spots at the train station; and could have increased spots at Hudson Lot . They did it carelessly. If it was their own money they would have installed kiosks first to see. They play fast and loose with my tax dollar The present council should personally pay for any shortfall along with the business owners like Damiano and Vagianos who begged for the parking garage. A contract could have been made with the business owners that they would make up any shortfall that kiosks didn’t produce. But no, the council rushed to build on uncertainly. What stupid, ignorant vain people. “

  1. Follow the money here. Our mayor is now questioning whether parking rates should be raised to pay for the project. What’s going on? Who got to him? Our mayor’s term expires this coming year. Will he be running for office again in the spring? Follow the money here closely.

  2. Let me tell you something if the village is going to start charging some kind of fee to all the businesses you’ll see them leave. This is getting to be ridiculous. For what they charge in rent they will definitely move to another Town.

  3. If you want to see down town clear out just make their operating costs higher than in other towns. Then let’s see how many people move into all those housing projects sold with the idea of people walking to town to shop and go to dinner. No place to shop and go to dinner? Guess they might not want to buy into the housing either. Then what?

  4. Train Horns will blast their socks off at 5:15 Am..

Can’t wait..there are freight trains coming through in the middle of the night..welcome to Hooterville Rubes..

towns a disgrace.those apartments could not possibly get one more inch closer to the first derailments..there are BULK liquid tank and chemical tank cars on this rail line..

    town looks like a slum..

  5. Oh yes I didn’t even think about that one. That is so true. Oh my god they’re going to shit right in bed. I’m gonna buy a few cases of headphones, and sound machines, I’m gonna make a shitload of money I might even start a soundproof business start soundproof in the baby room bedrooms oh yes. I think I’m onto something.

  6. We live right behind the sound barriers on Rt 17N. I need hearing aids. We are several miles from the train tracks yet I can hear them loudly all night long. And all these expensive apartments made no attempts at even minimal soundproofing. One does NOT “get used to the trains”. The builders obviously constructed as cheaply as possible and put their money into “luxury appointments”. Looks good, sounds horrible! I guess both “follow the money” and “Buyer beware” applies to all of them.
