Readers troubled that Ridgewood Appears for Sale

You are not even a little troubled that our public officials’ silence, testimony and/or support appears to be for sale? Let’s recap:

John Saraceno, with a housing project under consideration, pays for benefit tickets for our Village Council and their spouses to attend a fundraiser for Chris Christie.

Valley Hospital pledges $500,000 to the Board of Education as they inexplicably pass on speaking out against a 7 year construction project within eyeshot of 2 school.

Now Mr Bolger, also with building plans before the town, pledges a six figure “gift” to the town.

Does the terms “pay to play” ring a bell with you?

Not even a little concerned?

  1. Not concerned.

  2. As long as no structures are built that obstruct my view of Manhattan from Heights Rd, I’m good.

  3. Wait for a giant cell tower to obstruct your view. Then you’ll care.

  4. Chilling.

  5. The ONLY people who will benefit are the developers, who will be long gone (with money in their pockets) when we have to deal with more classrooms, more sewage, more traffic, more police officers…….

Oh, wait, perhaps some on the Council might benefit, too, if they are working behind the scenes with the developers. Just sayin’

  6. It’s the New Ridgewood. Speak out against these so called good acts and your labeled as an obstructionist. When RHS had a speaker addressing children about bullying and suicide the Valley logo was on the dais. Now that is playing to the kids and is unethical by any standard. Who wants to be an obstructionist?

  7. jjj:

    Not concerned.

    not surprised.

  8. The donations are a transparent attempt to influence village decision makers.

  9. Wow #6. That is blatant…

  10. The Carpetbagger Mayor and his Cornie Big Al The Developer Friend will be long gone before the residents realize they pulled the wool over their eyes.

  11. The question is, how do we stop this nonsense? Speaking up seems to get you nowhere or like someone wrote it gets you labeled as an obstructionist. Writing letters to the paper maybe?

  12. This is a lost cause. . This whole thing was agreed upon and given the green light months ago.
