Park Ridge NJ, Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco joined Commissioner Vice Chairwoman Ortiz, Commissioner Amoroso, Park Ridge Boro Mayor Keith Misciagna, and other Bergen County Parks officials for a ribbon cutting of the newly renovated, historically accurate roof at the Wortendyke Barn!
Wortendyke Barn is a historic Dutch barn located in Park Ridge that was constructed using only local resources and is one of nine Bergen County-owned historical sites. It serves as a historic reminder of Bergen County’s vast agricultural history.
The project, made possible in part by an Open Space Trust Fund grant, included the full replacement of the cedar shingle roof using cedar shake made from cedar trees, which is how the roof was first constructed in 1770. The project also focused on the complete rehabilitation of the Wortendyke Barn restroom to include a baby changing station and ensure ADA accessibility.
Revitalizing Bergen County’s historical sites and open spaces is essential to preserving the history of this great County. We were happy to complete these improvements just in time for the final “Music at the Barn” Summer Concert Series performance, featuring The Cider Barn Band , Sunday, October 29 for an incredible finale!
