TRENTON NJ, Along party lines today, the Assembly approved legislation (S3229/A4743) giving illegal immigrants living in New Jersey the ability to obtain driver’s licenses, permits and identification cards through the Motor Vehicle Commission. Assemblymen Ron Dancer and Rob Clifton blasted Democrats for fast-tracking bad legislation that opens the door to fraud and ignores the values of American citizenship.
“How does giving illegal immigrants, who we know have already broken the law once, an official government document going to make us safer?” questioned Dancer (R-Ocean). “The Democrats know it is complete nonsense and that is why they had to fast-track this piece of terrible legislation that will lay out the welcome mat for illegal immigrants wanting an ID for nefarious purposes.”
The bill creates two types of licenses: one compliant with the federal REAL ID Act that would let users board domestic flights, and one strictly for driving that would be issued to immigrants without legal status and others who lack documentation.
Rob Clifton “This bill continues a trend we have seen across the board in increased benefits and privileges for illegal immigrants. We should be encouraging American citizenship, not removing the need for it,” said Clifton (R-Monmouth). “It’s incredibly sad that the Democrats refuse to consider any legislation that would actually benefit the law-abiding citizens of New Jersey and instead prefer to pander for votes.”
The legislation passed the Assembly 42-30-5.
Time to vote out every democrat in this state. They have no respect for our country or our laws. How many of these non abiding lawbreakers will have insurance. If there is any accidents with non insured illegals we should be able to sue these idiots that voted for this
This is a terrible idea. Just terrible. I’m actually embarrassed to be a Democrat today.
This is not good .
Next step is probably voting rights, at least in state/local for anyone with new ID. And those persons will naturally be very appeciative… ultimately it always gets down to politics and votes.
It’s a sad day for this state when people who are born and raised in this country needs six points of identification and sometimes have to make two or three trips to DMV to get a drivers license or even renew their drivers license. Then you have illegal aliens who have no identification and can go and get a drivers license. There seems to be a bit of a problem with that. The leaders of the state should be recalled.
