Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Police, FBI, and Bergen County Sheriff’s Office personnel working on the scene of a reported Tuesday afternoon, 05/31, bank robbery at the 133 Franklin Avenue, Ridgewood branch of TD Bank. The robbery was reported via a silent alarm at approximately 4:30 PM. A lone, adult male perpetrator reportedly fled the scene on foot.

Many years ago, TD Bank led the consumer banking industry in the removal of those counter top to ceiling, plexiglass “bandit barriers.” According to statistics released by the NYPD several years after the trend began, bank robberies skyrocketed immediately.

Any truth to the rumor that they just robbed the change counting machine because it was full of quarters?
James, cameras are a force multiplier for the police. The police can’t be everywhere and I doubt anyone wants them everywhere for the cost alone. A dozen cameras set up around the CBD may very well have helped identify the robber.
well perhaps next we will not spend $500,000 on a toilet at vets and instead spend it on cameras , again the bank has cameras, and perhaps the PD could cut back on guarding Verizon and PSEG?

I know! Let’s put cameras in everyone’s houses so that when someone comes home with their bank robbin’ loot, we’ll be able to catch them before they open their first beer! Brilliant!
Not sure what CBD cameras would do for us in the case in which the perp robbed a bank…give us an idea what direction he was going before he got out of camera range and disappeared? Because the bank presumably already has high definition images of the perp. Or was he wearing a Nixon, Reagan or Obama mask inside the TD Bank branch only to rip it off immediately upon leaving the building?

Bank robbery is probably one of the dumbest methods of getting money by committing a crime. The proceeds are typically quite low, the chances of getting subsequently arrested are quite high, and the sentencing is also disproportionate to the crime, as compared to most other methods of criminality.

Excellent point on the curious councilmember resistance (i.e., the Three Amigos) to being A/V recorded in a meeting that is already being A/V recorded! But ordinary residents strolling the streets, who cares what they think.

I have never seen a RW Police Officer outside of a squad car…
The concept of cops walking the beat is simply not feasible. There simply isn’t enough of them to cover the area they police.

Before cameras will function at night, PSE&G needs to fix the street lights.
10.50 is right..outside of a pull over and a ticket writing scene..why can’t they use their squawkers to direct targeted vehicles into a driveway or shopping center that is often right there . Pollce out of SUV ‘s would put more pressure on drivers to slow down and pedestrians to stop jaywalking.they all carry hand radios anyway.
