Ridgewood Basketball unwraps holiday tourney title

RIDGEWOOD — The holiday portion of the young basketball season proved to be a revelation for the Ridgewood High School boys team. The prize was the All-Groups Holiday Tournament championship.
“That was a first glimpse of what we can be, in our style of play, along those lines,” RHS head coach Mike Troy said in reflecting on the event that was capped by an 85-70 win over Cresskill in the Dec. 30 title game. “The kids saw it, too, and it brought a level of excitement.”
Just one thing was able to dampen the enthusiasm, if only briefly. The Maroons followed up that sterling performance with a 67-59 loss to Hackensack last Saturday.
