Ridgewood Board of Education Trustee comments on rejected special election ballots

Ridgewood NJ, Ridgewood Board of Education Trustee Mike Lembo commented in a Facebook post on the 700 plus rejected ballots for the special election :

Mike Lembo , “It has been brought to my attention earlier today that there are over 700 votes that were not counted in this previous election for both the Village Council and School Board, which includes the school budget for the upcoming year. This election has had our residents become very passionate over various issues and many conversations have been had and are continuing. I appreciate them all especially during difficult times.
That being said, it is my position that every vote should be counted, and at the very least, understood why they weren’t counted. This is bigger than us. What if there is some sort of issue that can be identified for future elections? Do not forget that we have a primary coming up next month. We can see if residents were confused in the process of filing out the ballots, or if they simply were thrown out. I do not know the answer, and I think it is important to find out. I have said time and time again, every voice should be heard and this is one of those times. Your voice and vote matter.
This isn’t a time to bicker, but a time that we all get together and make sure that we find out the truth whatever it is.
The School Board will be following all necessary actions and petitioning the County so that we can get the answers that we all deserve.”
