  1. Most of the store owners don’t even look outside! The problem is how to get them to be responsible. It is their job to take care of the sidewalk area. They neglect the trees that the Village pays for. Send notices to managers or owners.

  2. And definitely the landlords need to be more responsible outside their dwellings. Not just in front of their buildings along side and backyard too. A lot of filth.

  3. Getting shabby? It’s been shabby for the last 15 months. In addition to the trash outside the restaurants every morning, the barricades, the plastic tents, the weeds, the sand bags, the heating lamps, the spray painted arrows on the sidewalk…… the list goes on and on. What do these things all have in common? It costs NOTHING to clean up the sidewalk and the street. Come on business owners and landlords! If you don’t take pride in your appearance why should we continue funding your businesses with town efforts?

  4. This is what a an abandoned town looks like…. no surprise here.

But keep raising the parking rates, importing low income housing, not addressing “bike gangs” and other quality of life issues (like keeping the sidewalks clean and planters weed free) and glorifying and promoting fringe groups, like BLM and the “alphabet people”.

Few will vocally oppose these anti-CBD moves, but most will just stop patronizing the CBD.

    Keep up the good work.
Pretty soon Ridgewood will be no different (nor more “special” )than any other tired and aging large urban town.

  5. As a store owner I know they had the volunteer group, And they used outside contractors to maintain the flowerbeds. And look real nice. There are plenty of landscapers in the village that they can use.

  6. This is what happens when government workers have the longest-ever paid vacation.

  7. Get your information in order please. It’s a shame that you’re misinformed. Once again.
    And wash your hands

  8. The whole town is going in the shitter.
Garbage cans and plastic bags of garbage litter the curbs, even after the covid ‘excuse’ is over.
Lawns not properly maintained grass a foot tall.
    Houses with peeling paint
Black plastic bags in the street thanks to the gutter cleaners in the orange trucks.
Corners overgrown with bushes despite ordinance prohibiting view blockage.
Street sweeper came here exactly ONCE. (how about scheduling NOT on the day when the recycling containers are in the street! duhhhhhhh)
And numerous residents with Motor Homes and travel trailers in the yard in violation of the ordinance prohibiting such.
It should not be up to the residents to pick up the phone and call this to the attention of whomever is in charge.
Maybe the blogger can post and keep updated a public list so these offenders can comply. Not looking for the neighbors to get a fine, but its the price one pays in taxes to live in a nice town without having to live next to some inconsiderate resident.
There are a few things that differentiate the Village from Passaic county but without enforcement its pointless.

  9. To the poster just above, relax. This is not Beverly Hills. Some peeling paint and some overgrown grass on someone’s property, while not exactly beautiful is mot going to the shi$@er.

Now the CBD is another story. It is indeed terribly maintained. If you drive around in the morning you can really See it. Garbage everywhere, those asinine parking signs at every spot telling me my spot # and the kiosk that I am going to ignore. . And if you want to have people spend money here I should not have to drive around for 20 minutes just to pick up dinner. Get rid of the orange cones everywhere. And get rid of the unused loading zone spots in front of Felina.

  10. This is what happens when we have people with very little experience running a department that have no clue on how to on a day to day ,
Blame the top brass for that.

  11. Perhaps store owners take some pride in their community and establishments? I keep my tree wells spotless and inviting for my business. It’s pretty simple…

  12. To the above poster referencing Beverly Hills..
As a property owner I expect to be protected from inconsiderate lazy neighbors who have no pride in their property.
We DO have ordinances prohibiting the peeling paint, overgrown lawns, blocked views at corners, motor homes, commercial vehicles parked at residences, and auto parking on lawns. I willingly pay for that with inflated taxes here so I don’t have to look at a dump.
Any and all of the above can be clearly seen on many busy roads here in town. Its not like they are hidden on some dead end street. Time to strictly enforce the codes instead of relying upon neighbors to pick up the phone.

  13. The bottom line is the Village of Ridgewood is not the body off employees in time for daily maintenance. With all the extra parking spots , & Apartments they are making more litter every day. Who is cleaning the CBD at night or on weekends, exactly. Why should be employees maintaining the CBD. Plenty of work to do to keep it nice and clean. Summertime is here. We pay for cops at night and weekends , But now I’m doing basic cleaning
