I wish people would take photos of parking spaces all over town on different days of the week, ordinary and holiday, and at different times to show in aggregate that parking IS AVAILABLE. A large number of photos documented at various times and days of the week would tell the story. Walking a couple of blocks is good for your health! And unless you’re going to a Hudson St. or S. Broad Street venue, you’ll walk a couple of blocks (or much more) from the garage anyway. Please VOTE NO on June 21 and get an absentee ballot if you can’t.
send them in : onlyonesmallvoice@gmail.com do not for get date, time
No problem John Saraceno, Jr. | Onyx Equities, LLC and his friend will fill up those lot with off street parking for the Tenements.
How do the CRR stand on the garage issue?
Are they concerned about the fiscal quality of the Village or is the hospital all they care about?
It would be nice to get some more muscle in stopping this fiasco.
“I have never not found parking in Ridgewood.” This is a true statement that I heard several times at VC meetings. Has anyone not found parking? There are two distinct issues here: parking capacity and parking pressure. The hot button issue is parking pressure. 95% of the time, parking is readily available. Why spend $11M to $15M to accommodate the 5% inconvenience time? And what really is the inconvenience? You have to walk three blocks to get to your final destination? We walk farther than that on our treadmills. I will cancel my gym membership and walk to town before I pay $11M for the 5% convenience factor.
There is lots of muscle in the garage fiasco. By all means VOTE NO on June 21. A new council will come up with a more reasonable solution to any perceived parking problems and will not line the pockets of their investor friends.
This needs to be stopped.A new beginning for a better future. There is more at stake than bonding costs and negative returns ( taxpayer liabilities)
I think we should repave all the lot’s. and then go and see what we need.
I agree, 2:17pm, Repave , reline and then if we find there is still a human cry for a garage build it on Chestnut and Franklin. A single tier which will be accessible go the center of town and the train station.
Adding to 3.21 A special moderately scaled business tax for 10 years so they too have skin in the residents game.No monster Garage on Hudson.Stop that insanity now Vote In June a Garage referendum..they relax at the shore..keep the developers at bay …spending other people’s money
But 3..21 …the know betters pre sold Garagezilla to their developer friends ..intending to sell and bail out of dodge before the resulting collapse and school space and funding and traffic crisis.
The only time I have had to turn my car around because i could not complete my errand was when I could not park behind the library because it was full of the cars of people at sports events at Vets Field. They are not supposed to park there but they do. When the library is open AND Village Hall is open during business hours or for an evening meeting AND there are games, especially if there is also a Band Shell concert…fageddaboudit. The police are right there and should have been ticketing sports-parkers from day one. As for the “park at your own risk” signs, I find them deeply offensive. I hope nobody believed the lie that that ballfield was going to be temporary. Now it looks like a penitentiary and co-opts the center of the field, which was supposed to be for ALL RESIDENTS to use for all kinds of things.
8:32 you want the CRR to waste some more of OUR money on lawsuits for the garage too? That’s perfect. Lawyers get rich. The village gets nothing. Oh, and the cases are losers. Virtually malpractice to even file them. Yeah I want me some more of THAT.
Counted at least 15 empty spots directly on Ridgewood Ave. between Maple and Oak at 7pm tonight. The lots and side streets were empty. It seems like the garage idea is a bad one.
The lot is not necessary. Why should the RESIDENTS pay for a peak parking problem for FISH and Its Greek to Me? F them
3.21 is right..we don’t maintain the lots we have..in terms of repaving and ,re-lining the car stalls ..look at the Graydon Parking lot just redone..has to be increased number of slots when parkers can actually see where the approved parking slots are,,even at any high demand nights weekends surface lots USEAGE times.next step spring summer and fall trolley to the CBD. do it for the kids….
9:05 ..this just in..Garage goose is Cooked..we need to cut our losses and move ahead with a New Management with neglected community priorities.
11.08 I second that Motion, we can’t even maintain the surface lots we have.they are treated like a Dukes of Hazard ticket blitz hell for those visitors who are stupid enough to see our Parking enforcement teams would ticket them for any scenario ..tail in parking,,,car over a line in the street,..repeat Parking…how many of those victims never came back…plenty,we are not that special folks,
New chant at VC parking discussions..”it’s PEAK to me” resulting in automatic tabling of any proposal to build any new garages in town…until Hell or the Town freezes over.
I agree with 6:21. I have left the library lot because there was no parking.
Actually, there was one spot. A foul ball just missed me when I got out of the car. I drove away.
