Ridgewood Chamber of Commerce Warns Village Business owners on New Parking Rules

To all business owners and employees in Ridgewood
important notice about parking!

Please read carefully.
Effective November 1, 2014
The Village of Ridgewood will begin strictly enforcing
REPEAT PARKING VIOLATIONS – on that date the police department will begin issuing tickets to vehicles that remain in a parking space beyond 3 hours.
This means that you will no longer be able to extend the time at the parking meter by adding additional quarters to the meters at the end of the time allowed.
The Ridgewood Chamber of Commerce and the Village of Ridgewood have arranged for a limited number of employee parking spaces at the former Ken Smith Motors Lot (at the corner of N. Broad St. and Franklin Ave)
Beginning October 20, 2014, PARKING PERMITS maybe purchased at Village Hall (first floor receptionist desk)-for $80 per month – Monday-Friday 8:30am-4:30pm – you must have proof of employment and your driver’s license with you at the time of purchase – cash/check and/or credit cards accepted.
For additional information call
Village Hall 201-670-5500 x 200
Spaces at Ken Smith are extremely limited.
PLEASE REMEMBER YOU WILL BE TICKETED FOR REPEAT PARKING VIOLATIONS.

  1. Is there a reliable estimate of how many parking spaces are occupied by store employees?

  2. Believe it when you see it.

  3. just another way for our mayor to increase parking revenues by doubling the parking rates for employees and this will further chase shoppers away from the downtown area.

  4. I’m not sure that ticketing will address any of the issues currently facing the CBD. If the Village makes it difficult enough for businesses to bring in employees, businesses will just leave town. And what’s it going to be like when we build all those apartments? Oh, that’s right – according to “the study” performed by the applicants, none of the apartment dwellers will own cars.

  5. I hear that the chamber may be looking into those “shock collars” that you put on dog. They will issue them to all the tenements residents. This way they can’t leave town and force then to eat and shop here.

  6. Blah, Blah, Blah……. continues.

Where is the Parking Garage Bldg…… design
Where is the Parking Garage Bldg… ?? design recommendation ??

    Stop the damn talking.

  7. I wouldn’t build a parking garage until I was certain ALL spots currently occupied by store employees were vacated.

I don’t own a business, but if I did, I would fire any employee that parked in a spot that a potential customer could use.

If you are a business owner occupying one of those spots then you are just plain stupid, for which there is no known cure.

  8. BLah, Blah, Blah to you Dom. Never mind about the design. SHOW ME THE MONEY. What do you care Dom. You would be around for the next 20 years or so to pay off the bond.

  9. Went to town last night and to three stores today. No problem parking.

  10. Thanks for the heads up…,., I’ll remember to wipe the chalk off my back tire…..yes it’s that easy…..

  11. Maybe we can get high tech meters and install weight sensors in the streets and sophisticated survelience cameras and track employees movements and parking habits….

    LOL

I hear there’s government money available for this type of project… part of the Traffic calming – cars are evil fund.

    HA HA

  12. actually #11, while I enjoy your hyperbole, it is just that.

there are many towns that successfully use chalk on tires or writing down license plate numbers and checking several hours later to enforce “repeat parking violations”. A couple of tickets and people get a lot more careful.

#10 I guess the people in other towns that use the chalk system are just stupid, is that what you are saying? Not geniuses like in Ridgewood.

#7 Is exactly right “I don’t own a business, but if I did, I would fire any employee that parked in a spot that a potential customer could use. If you are a business owner occupying one of those spots then you are just plain stupid, for which there is no known cure.”

  13. They better not chalk my BMW tires. I will take them to court for damaging my baby.

  14. Chalking tires is Stone Age technology. Get hand held and vehicular mounted license plate readers with “repeat parking notification” software installed.

  15. #14, worth pricing – but the chalk you can start tomorrow for a couple of bucks.

  16. “the chalk system”…..that’s pretty funny.

  17. You are right, “system” sounds funny! Chalk “method” would have been a better choice of words.
