RIDGEWOOD — With the growth of online retailing, suburban downtowns have undergone a shift toward more service-based businesses. And with that shift has come a greater demand for parking.

Ridgewood is grappling with that need. Recognizing that changing times call for changing parking strategies, officials are taking a look at the village code.

  1. further ease the parking problem, Brancheau said the supply of parking should be increased while temporarily “limiting demand.” He was not specific as to how to limit the demand for parking downtown, but he urged caution in moving forward with such a plan to avoid a “severe economic impact.”

The council opted to refer the issue back to the Planning Board before moving forward with any ordinance changes.

    Unquote

More floundering around to solve the restaurants peak mealtime weekend demand..another town wrecking commuter shafting fiasco.

And no Garagezilla is still a non starter. We had a referendum on that.Roll back the 1000 dollar elite only first class train station mistake.

  2. “Limiting demand”?
    Really?
    ENOUGH of the posturing bullshit.
    ENOUGH of the “planning”
    ENOUGH of the “studies”
Build the garage and ignore the social gadfly ilk that screwed the pooch the first time around. The CBD needs the garage, it’s not just for the restaurants but it sure as hell is for the commuters. That’s what we all do here…commute. Except for the no life to much time on their hands ambulance chasing news photographers…they have WAY to much time on their hands.

    1. lol oy vey , parties over Aronsohn and his goons need to go back to hoboken

  3. Perhaps we hit a Nerve?….truth hurts..we don’t want and have Voted down the neighborhood wrecking garage.

  4. Garage is a nonstarter and would not have resolved our problems, some of which don’t exist. Better, cheaper, more rational solutions are being found.

  5. The Residents of Ridgewood and those who rent properties and apartments here should be the first focus of any committee or town body
Subcommittee.Since the commuters got shafted we will be more that ever on the lookout for any early summer or last minute december rush job as they always carry a Rotten deal for the taxpayers and a proposed gift to the political store owners and landlords many of whom have little interest beyond converting a village of homeowners and commuters into a market
Fixture for their next conquest or retail rental schemes. If you are concerned about your occupancy then lower your rent.Right now it seems the many new Hoboken style men’s Barber Shops are the Trending new
businesses and we all wish them luck.they came without Garagezilla and will make a success or failure like us all without it.The Restaurants are the
Merchants who want us to bear massive Debt and risk for their peak evening and weekend Needs. We are not Montclair nor Englewood.
