Ridgewood NJ, in the early hours of Friday, July 12, 2024, Ridgewood Fire Department’s “A” Shift was called into action for a high-stakes rescue. Dispatched in the middle of the night, the team responded to an urgent report of a vehicle submerged in water with one occupant trapped inside. The incident reportedly took place in the Ho-Ho-Kus Brook near First Street.
The Rescue Operation
Upon arrival, the firefighters assessed the situation and quickly devised a plan. Utilizing a winch, they securely anchored the vehicle to prevent further submersion. With the vehicle stabilized, two brave firefighters entered the water to carry out the rescue.
Bringing the Driver to Safety
The team worked efficiently and carefully, ensuring the safety of both the driver and the rescuers. Using a stokes basket, the firefighters successfully brought the driver to the roadway. The individual was then promptly transported to the hospital for further medical evaluation.

Who, Where, Why?
A story update would be helpful. Perhaps some details.
I would love to know the details of how this happened in front of my house! I & my neighbors did not hear a thing! A neighbor’s son on his way home saw the commotion! I hope he is ok. Thank you, Ridgewood Fire Department! Ho-Ho-Kus Police need to patrol this area much better! I am being nice.
Exactly where did this happen?
Middle of the night. Far more accidents are caused by a driver who fell asleep than will ever be known.
