Ridgewood NJ, Fire departments throughout Bergen County have dispatched firefighters with shovels to free fire hydrants from the mounds of deep, hard packed snow created when snowplows cleared main road and side streets.  Here, a team of Ridgewood firefighters assigned to Engine Company #35 free up a hydrant located near the corner of Spring Avenue and Hope Street at the start of Saturday’s snow storm.

  1. Thanks for photos Boyd, I would have helped more but, my back is killing me.
My doctor recommended I cut down on my drinking or sex …. I wish he didn’t say (OR) , I hate to make decisions.

  2. I know what you mean #1 but I didn’t have to make that decision my wife made it for me.

  3. Why don’t the homeowners do this for the hydrants in front of their houses???

  4. #3 because this is Ridgewood, and the taxes are too high, so someone else should do it for them.

  5. You are lucky if the homeowner cleans there front walk.

  6. #3 Maybe you want them to come over and wipe you ass for you. You know because you pay high taxes

  7. The potholes on South Van Dien are something to behold.

I defy you to name a street in town that’s in worse condition…..

  8. it’s the fire dept’s job.

  9. By ordinance, it’s the HOMEOWNER’S job. Job well done by the plow drivers for covering plenty of them as well.

  10. Look at the house at 463 midwood rd. fire hydrant where is it ,also how about the home owner there that does not clean his sidewalk. How about a summons?

  11. The plow drivers’ job is to clear snow and ice off the roads. You can argue about how well they did that, but quit complaining about the snow that landed on sidewalks, etc. That is where it goes when it leaves the road. Now get off your a$$ and clean your sidewalk and dig out the fire hydrant. You will be the one complaining when the fire department take too long to put out your burning house.

  12. That person on Midwood should get a summons and be forced to watch all of Woody Allen’s movies.

  13. jjj why don’t you call the cops, and tattle on the alleged violator, I’m sure you would feel better.

For once I agree with JJJ. Its not ‘tattling’ . Just call central dispatch and tell them the inconsiderate neighbor has an ordinance violation.

  15. what about when the plow crews clean off the roads and we have shit heads blowing the snow back into the road. this year is the worst with the snow blowers.I tell others on my block to blow it on your grass, they say the hell with the town. my god,

  16. Thanks to the fireman and all other town works. You did a great job for what you had.
