Ridgewood NJ, Great news for students and commuters in Ridgewood! The long-awaited bus shelter near Ridgewood High School (RHS) is officially installed, providing essential protection from the elements for those utilizing the westbound NJ Transit bus stop.

The Ridgewood Village Council unanimously approved the installation of the prefabricated shelter, which is strategically located on East Ridgewood Avenue near the RHS tennis courts.

Collaboration and Design Details

The project was the result of a successful collaboration between the Village and the school district:

  • BOE Approval: Village Manager Keith Kazmark confirmed that the installation, which is located on Ridgewood High School property, received full approval from the Board of Education (BOE).
  • Design: The new shelter is similar in design and functionality to the existing one already in place on North Monroe Street near West Glen Avenue.

The primary goal of the project is simple: to offer students and other passengers a safe, sheltered place to wait for their ride, especially during inclement weather. The shelter’s installation marks the end of delays and fulfills a need voiced by the community.

Key Bus Stop Improvement

This specific bus stop is a high-traffic area, particularly for RHS students commuting to and from school. The new structure addresses a persistent gap in community infrastructure, recognizing the importance of safe and comfortable public transportation access points.

  1. Great, looks like there is room for four or five to be sheltered for the minimal minutes they spend waiting. Pretty sure the rule is, when it rains the parents drive to school to pick up their sheltered kiddos!

    Great waste of money.

    1. forget the rain, try driving by an school on a sunny day
The inconsiderate helicopter parents block the roads.
Take a ride past Ridge ANY day. Double parked entitled do-give-a-shit-except-myself parents blocking the road. If you want to drive westbound you must cross the double yellow line into oncoming traffic…if able.
Where is the Ridgewood PD on this one?
Good luck getting an emergency vehicle through if necessary..NOT A CHANCE

  2. 2:45 today (typical of most days) NJ Transit bus parked waiting for High Schoolers.

So why do we need a shelter there?
