Ridgewood NJ, Five (5) Ridgewood High School students escaped serious injury when their Nissan Pathfinder crashed head on into a utility pole as it rounded a curve on a narrow street near the high school. The late Friday afternoon, 01/27, crash triggered a massive response by local police, fire, and EMS units. One (1) passenger was transported by ambulance to The Valley Hospital for further evaluation. All others were released at the scene to parents. A flatbed tow truck removed the totaled Pathfinder from the scene. The pole was deemed unsafe by a PSE&G Electric Division troubleshooter and scheduled for immediate replacement. Ridgewood Police at the scene did not indicate whether any summonses would be issued in connection with the mishap.
Oh that does not look good. Hard to believe they are OK. Lucky!
Lost Control Suddenly.
A lot of that happening recently.
As in, since 2021.
Speeding and near collisions are a daily occurrence on Marshall Street. This street along with Franklin and North Irving are routinely used to bypass traffic lights on North Maple Avenue. Cars parked illegally make even more narrow. Kids often walk in the road despite having sidewalks available on each side. Parking for the learning center and high school events further congests. This is a dangerous area for pedestrians and residents.
