The Village Council took the next step toward allowing more residential buildings in the Central Business District with the introduction of five ordinances pertaining to the master plan amendments approved by the Planning Board in June.
All five ordinances were introduced by a 3-2 margin with Mayor Paul Aronsohn, Deputy Mayor Albert Pucciarelli and Councilwoman Gwenn Hauck voting in favor and Councilman Michael Sedon and Councilwoman Susan Knudsen voting against introduction.
Knudsen asked the council to table the introduction of each based on receiving a copy of the ordinances for the first time at the beginning of last week’s work session meeting.
“At that exact moment we received five ordinances, which were a total of 40 pages of complicated, detailed information regarding the changes to the master plan,” said Knudsen. “And I felt at that time because we had just received those documents at 7:30, we didn’t have an opportunity to have discussion and question the village planner in a proper work session.”

The Mayor’s spouse is employed by a company that owns property in one of the affected zones. Should he not be recusing himself from voting on this issue?
@9.50am: How dare you make such an anti-NJ statement as that! Next thing, you’ll be suggesting that there’s elements of corruption in NJ.
9:50- the mayor is transparent, so how can you be correct? We all feel fully confident that our mayor discloses every possible conflict of interest.
On the other hand, the mayor often adds qualifying adjectives to the word “transparency,” when he says things like:
We want increased transparency.
We want more transparency.
In an effort to be more transparent.
Transparency, like TRUTH, should not need any modifying words. Either Aronsohn is transparent or he is not. He cannot be partially transparent, or transparent when it suits him.
The correct word for Aronsohn is TRANSLUCENT. You can sort of see what he is doing, but it is all clouded by a haze of dishonesty.
When is he leaving town? Soon, please.
Not soon enough 2:03 PM.
It was great to hear all you brave guys speaking your mind at the meeting….. NOT… go ahead, bloviate in cyberspace and hide….
Paul, after the Planning Board approval, the ordinance introduction is almost a formality. The time for the public is in September, before they vote on the approval of the ordinance.
Not almost a formality, is a formality. Sadly Paul, I feel as if this is a done deal. They know (via petition and presence at planning board meetings) that a certain % of residents are against this and THEY DON’T CARE. Only when one or all of these three are gone can we try to fix their mess.
Well, even though it was a formality, there was time allotted for public comments…. didn’t hear anyone roar… not too many opportunities left for those who oppose the plan revisions to make themselves heard…
Paul Smith, a couple of people spoke at the meeting on various topics. Looked on the Ustream like someone was going to punch Bernie Walsh, and Aronsohn cut Boyd Loving off. Albert’s toupee went sideways whe he started defending himself, although no one had accused him of anything. Aronsohns shills were there clapping and mewing.
