Ridgewood Nj, according to Nancy A. Bigos Director of Parks and Recreation for the Village of Ridgewood, the excessive rainfall throughout these past two weeks and the flooding created through the breach of the Ho-Ho-Kus Brook all municipal ballfields inclusive of: Maple Park, Habernickel Park, Citizen’s Park ,Veterans Field, and lower and upper Hawes were closed Friday.

Parks and Recreation  will be assessing the situation on Monday morning, October 2nd and will notify all youth sports groups of the outcome. Any further play on these saturated grass fields will create extensive damage to the playing surfaces.

The turf field at Maple Park has once again flooded and once the waters begin to recede the staff within the Parks Division and an outside private contractor will commence the cleanup of debris and silt, this process takes time.

  1. clean up and restoration should begin immediately. we know the playbook to restore these fields.

  2. Spending money on turf, when you know it is laden with chemicals and so expansive is just crazy. Does floor insurance cover repairing/replacing turf?

  3. I wonder what the field behind Ridge looks like this morning. Superior drainage when you at the top of the hill instead of the bottom. Start the plans.

    1. You keep bringing up Ridge.
      Never happen.

Those folks (homeowners) would never allow it.

      1. Aren’t we all in this together?
Don’t those little kiddies need more fields? It’s a great location and not in a flood plain. Plenty of on-site parking.

        1. NOT “plenty of on site parking”

  4. How about Turf in places where it doesn’t flood. Thinking BF, GW, Orchard, Ridge, w
Williard…basically useless fields all become big assets.

  5. The good news is; the Schedler property is just fine . ( for now )
    – The trees soaked up the excess water and the mud will dry up on is own .
You can direct your resources to the pristine ball fields in the Village. 😉

    1. They plan to cut down all of the tress on the Schedler land.

  6. She will do whatever Rich Brooks asks her to do!
You should see how she takes orders from him, as if he’s her boss!

  7. Not in my backyard!

  8. A village of Ridgewood is the land of misfits. I want to know who is in charge, because we need a change in supervision. Do you know when the quarterback or is not working out you pull him out. Well that’s what needs to be done.

  9. The small office group is the problem.

  10. Well what do you want, there hiring a bunch of people who are friends of friends, not good. None of them have a test score. What a mess. No wonder no one cares. Do as little as possible. What’s gonna happen?
