“No leaf left behind.”

This is the tongue-in-cheek name Village Manager Roberta Sonenfeld gave a recent employee “leaf summit” that took place last Wednesday, Sept. 3.

The summit, which Sonenfeld orchestrated, brought together about 25 leaf collection employees to discuss ways to improve customer experience and get more leaves off the streets.

“It seems to be 80 percent of the complaints are related to the fact that we leave leaves, hence ‘no leaf left behind,'” Sonenfeld said.

With a new outsourcing plan, “no leaf left behind” is what the village hopes will happen, come leaf collection season in October.

The village has already put out a bid to outsource work in Ridgewood’s leafiest area, to free staff to focus on the other areas, Sonenfeld said.

  1. They shoud have those single operator, automated leaf vacuum trucks riding around 12 hours a day during heavy leaf season.

  2. Good idea…twice in the last 5 years the snow has come early.

  3. O M G……

  4. Take care of those Westsiders Mayor

  5. I guess we are all going to pay extra so our Mayor can keep his campaign promises to the West Siders

  6. Get rid of most Village workers and put the work out to private companies.

  7. If the overnite parking ordinance was enforced (it only is if you call in to complain), then the leaf removal might have a chancec.
Back in the 60’s/70s the village used to have workers with rakes making sure all the leaves got picked up (that are now pushed onto the grass)
Maybe get a few temporary workers with leaf blowers like Hohokus does)

What promises were those ? To vote against Valley’s expansion and bury any redevelopment of the CBD at the Planning Board level ? To hold the Village component of taxes flat ? He’s kept those.

    1. oh so “now” thats what he promised hummmm , I believe much can be said for the fact he told everyone in town exactly what they wanted to hear

  9. This is the start of a new scam, and don’t tell me that some one at the top is not going to get a kick back of some sort,by getting in a budy .is this going out to bid to do this work , and how much is this going to be.all that must be posted.
