Ridgewood NJ, Residents of Ridgewood, allow the Ridgewood Police Department to introduce you to our Chief for the day, Oliver Oloumi, a bright 4th-grade student from Somerville Elementary. Chief Oliver stepped into the shoes of Chief Lyons for a day filled with exciting activities and important responsibilities.
The day began with a swearing-in ceremony at Village Hall, officiated by Mayor Paul Vagianos. With his new title, Chief Oliver then made his way back to Somerville School to share the news with Principal Dr. Oates-Santos and his fellow classmates, who were thrilled to see their friend in his new role.

Next on the agenda was a visit to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office in Hackensack. Accompanied by his family, Chief Lyons, and Officer Perez, Chief Oliver got a behind-the-scenes look at the intricacies of police work and law enforcement operations.
To wrap up his exciting day, Chief Oliver joined other young chiefs from Bergen County for a special lunch at the SPACE event venue in Englewood, NJ. It was a delightful way to end a day filled with new experiences and learning.

The Ridgewood Police Department extends heartfelt thanks to the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, Mayor Paul Vagianos, Village Manager Mr. Keith Kazmark, and, most importantly, Oliver and the Oloumi Family for making this day memorable.

Chief Oliver, you did a fantastic job, and we’re proud to have you as part of our community!
