Ridgewood NJ, for the second time in less than 24 hours, Ridgewood Police Department patrol officers arrested a driver for alleged DUI following a motor vehicle crash. The latest incident occurred early Saturday morning, June 22nd, at an Exxon station on Route 17 southbound near Franklin Turnpike in Ridgewood.
The Incident
In this incident, a black BMW coupe struck a high curb and a sign as it entered the Exxon station, eventually coming to rest after hitting another curb. Responding to a 911 call about the crash, Ridgewood Police officers found the adult male driver semi-conscious at the wheel.
Immediate Response
Recognizing the signs of a possible overdose, officers administered two doses of Narcan before the arrival of Ridgewood Fire/EMS EMTs and paramedics from The Valley Hospital. The driver was promptly taken into custody and transported by ambulance, with police accompanying, to The Valley Hospital for further treatment.
Aftermath
A flatbed tow truck was called to remove the damaged BMW to a local impound facility. This incident marks the second DUI-related arrest in Ridgewood within a 24-hour period, highlighting the ongoing efforts of local law enforcement to maintain road safety.
