Ridgewood NJ, according to the Ridgewood Police Department their main Police phone line (201-652-3900) is not receiving calls from Verizon landlines. It appears that this is the extent of the problem. All citizens are advised to call 201-670-5519 if they receive an “out of service” message. We are still here! 911 is working properly and can be used for emergency purposes.
Verizon FIOS customers only can’t get through. Everyone else can.
Maybe if Paulie writes a $47k check to Verizon they’ll fix the problem.
All Verizon cares about is cellular…no money in landlines or cable.
We wonder what is the law regarding getting a loan from a town .
Is this permanent or temporary ?
It would be useful if they accepted texts? is this an option
This has happened to me for years. I am somewhat relieved to learn that the glitch does not lie only with my phone line.
I have reached the police a couple of times through 911 and once through the Glen Rock Police but greatly hesitate to occupy those numbers for something like this, and it gets tiresome to have to keep explaining it.
Recently I spent some time on the phone with a Verizon technician, who tested everything and determined that the problem was at the other end. He said the provider to the police dept. was Cablevision (which means Optimum) and that I should ask the other party to have it corrected. Well, the whole point is that I can’t call the police. I thought I would try to handle it myself but was unable to reach anyone at Optimum via phone or email without either entering my own Optimum number (I don’t have one) or agreeing to speak with a salesperson (no way).
Finally I wrote to our village manager. My first note was to let him know that the village website provided only one link to the police and it reaches an error page. (Just checked again on Sunday night 9/24 and this is still true.) He wrote back to acknowledge this. I then wrote about the issue above and he did not reply, but I am interested to see this blog post, which my situation may have inspired.
Yes, the Village Website link for the Ridgewood Police comes up “ERROR”
Also on their Facebook page, link comes up “Error”
Check the IT department.
I have Verizon services and it don’t work properly, looks like my call are intersect, and can’t do any call to important numbers, goverment offices, until with friends.
When finally react my call it’s would be disconnected, or said is out of service, doesn’t matter did a return call, after a received it.
Have internet at home, but was disconnected, because I didn’t make any payment, because I’m not working right now.
Received one call from Verizon, if make the payment they same to me on a bill, they will connect back my services.
After did my payment call to Verizon, and they said can’t connect my services back, if want have services must to open a new ccount.
Therefore, loss all videos record important to me at home.

VILLAGE OF RIDGEWOOD E-NOTICE
News and events
Currently, the Village of Ridgewood is experiencing a problem with Verizon FIOS customers contacting the main Ridgewood Police phone number – 201-652-3900. Verizon FIOS is the ONLY service impacted. We have tested the number with Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile, AT&T and Optimum – all are working properly. We have also contacted our provider who advised that the problem is with Verizon FIOS and they have no way of testing a route to that number from the FIOS network.
We are requesting that Verizon FIOS customers who are receiving a message stating that 201-652-3900 is disconnected call FIOS and open a ticket so they may trace the issue within their network.
Rest assured, our 911 system is working properly.
Thank you for your help and patience.
