Ridgewood NJ, Spring is officially in full swing, and that means more bicycles are hitting the pavement across the Village. To kick off a safe riding season, the Ridgewood Police Department teamed up with Ridgewood Parks & Recreation this past Saturday to host the annual Spring Bike Rodeo—an event packed with education, skills-building, and community smiles.
Led by Officers Greer and Bonanno, the morning was all about empowering local youth with smart riding habits.

Mastering the Road: What Local Riders Learned
The Bike Rodeo wasn’t just a fun weekend activity; it was a hands-on training ground designed to keep our neighborhood safe. Young participants got to:
-
Practice Essential Riding Skills: Navigating obstacles and mastering balance.
-
Learn Crucial Bicycle Safety Tips: Understanding hand signals, helmet safety, and the rules of the road.
-
Engage with Local Law Enforcement: Building positive, lasting connections with the officers who keep Ridgewood safe.
Every activity was tailored to ensure that whether kids are riding to school or cruising through the local parks, they have the confidence and knowledge to stay safe on the road.
Did You Miss the Spring Event? Don’t worry if you couldn’t make it out this past Saturday! Due to the fantastic turnout and community response, plans are already in motion for a Fall Bike Rodeo later this year.
Keep an eye on the official Ridgewood Police Department and Parks & Recreation communication channels for dates, times, and registration details as autumn approaches. Let’s keep working together to keep the Village of Ridgewood a safe, bike-friendly community for everyone!

It’s a shame they didn’t modernize this program to include ebikes and scooters, which is where we have the most safety risk for riders, pedestrians and fellow transportation vehicles. Nancy B. Stuck in her old ways.
