So happy to hear this. Over the years I have showed up at these meetings multiple times only to the the board or council allow the parking garage, apartments, etc. I am glad to see that good sense prevailed this time.
Same. Finally they are opening their eyes. A little late can’t undo all the destruction like the apartments, the garage and the business in Habernickel. But hopefully moving in the right direction. They can control it all tho. Let’s hope they do
Having a billboard in a very dangerous stretch of Route 17 was a disastrous idea. The Zoning Board did the right thing by voting it down. It makes no sense and is a distraction to already distracted drivers going at lightening speeds. Thank you!!
Billboard on 17 is dangerous. What about a plastic turf field practically at the same location?
won’t matter. the applicant will appeal, sue, and win. the billboard is going to get erected. the “consultants” that helped write the master plan, did us no favors. the language in the master plan will not hold up in court. They should be held liable.

The Paramus historic church with a historic cemetary right next door to an LED billboard is proposterous and a completely insane idea so it is wonderful news that it got shot down.

-This is election year for Mayor Paul Vagianos.
-Zoning Board members are appointed by the Council.
-Public recorded note shows Mayor gave Gail Price (owner of the legal firm representing the Billboard company/applicant) 47k.
-Voters would be outraged if this Billboard passed.
Pre-Election, Zoning Board denies the Billboard application. Billboard company files an appeal and the matter heard in a Bergen County Court, where Paul Vagianos’s wife is a long standing judge. Post Election, Billboard is erected.
In other words, let’s vote against it, and let the Court grant the approval.
I hope you are wrong and I also hope that Paul Vagianos does not get re-elected as mayor, council or anything else. He is already a smug assclown who seems to only be interested in promoting his special interests for his friends and laughing at anyone who opposes him (yes, we know Paul). The thought of even one more day of this puppet show would be beyond comprehension and he may actually bankrupt the village this time around.
Did he get any of the 4 mill given to Healthbarn in Habernickel? Why did Healthbarn get a 4 million dollar grant? Where did it go? What was the mayors involvement? What was healthbarns involvement? And why did our mayor give a parks and rec board member 47 k? What is going on with our tax dollars?
Large Loan and tax payer $350K pavillion for healthbarn who makes big bucks and pays next to nothing for use of almost an entire property, house garage, kitchen, washer/dryer. can’t you add? it is $47,000.00 plus 10% interest. not sure what the repayment plan was or if it was compounded daily.

No one was disputing tat this wasn’t sad but that the unethical nature on everyone’s part seems to bee what residents questioned. Mayor loans money to his good friends (normal) -one just happens to be Chair of 2 Ridgewood Committees (not normal) and wife is a named partner of law firm who submitted the billboard application to Ridgewood Zoning Board (not normal). questionable things in play here. Village attorney has previously worked for law firm of loan recipient and helps friend Paulie out with a written speech stating nothing is rotten in Denmark. I’d say there is a movie coming soon to a theater near you but we don’t have one anymore.

Sadly PV will win the election comfortably. This town is done. They have the same voting habits as in national elections. Even a good chunk of Schedler residents had just voted for PV before they regretted their vote.

Many is a relative term. This town is big and with many newcomers who historically vote for incumbents because to them it looks like the place is impeccable. On the other hand, I have neighbors living in town for decades who consider PV a friend because he says Hi to them when they to eat at his place. Lots of shallow people around. But I hope you’re right and I am wrong.
No, I think you’re definitely right. The small contingent of “despisers” seems much bigger thanks to the echo chamber blogs like this provide, but it’s not reflective of reality. Most people in the village have zero idea what goes on outside their front yard, and as you’ve noted simply because the mayor doesn’t spit in their general direction they feel blessed to be the presence of someone with power.
He is good at blowing smoke so they are completely baffled by his BS. They don’t see the conductor behind the curtain. He has become joke but he probably looks in the mirror each day and says “it’s showtime” and off he goes to play mayor and the king of con.
