  1. Pascack Valley is having a virtual school day. They are asking the DOE to count it as a school day so they will not need to make it up. Great idea!

    1. i total agree very cool

  2. Saw a Facebook post about how smart student athletes are. Did not address lower academic standards and “special athlete” classes schools have to keep the grades up. The post pointed out that athletes miss class and have to make it up on their own but they have special “tutors” to help them keep up.

I do believe that being a student athlete in college is like having a part time job. They are being compensated for their time with their athletic scholarship. I do not feel bad for them. The ones who think that a 10k scholarship is worth their time are kidding themselves. They and their parents invest so much time in athletics in K-12 they need to prove that it was worth it with the recruitment. Financial payback for years of private trainers and travel teams is actually very small. How many student athletes graduate in 4 years with a degree? Many play with their course load and do not have a recognizable degree.

If it is truely a “passion” then go ahead. Four years of a sports passion does not translate into employability. Don’t kid yourself. Employers discount the student athlete too.
