The Village Council plans to bring its ongoing concerns about the PSE&G utility pole project to the state’s Board of Public Utilities (BPU).
Council members hope for a continued moratorium on pole installation and a future hearing in which the public and village officials can discuss the controversial project.
“The council decided last night that we will file a petition today with the BPU, effectively asking for a review and hearing. We will request that the BPU continue the moratorium through this process,” Mayor Paul Aronsohn said on Thursday. “Our expectation is that a BPU hearing would allow for village and public input.”
Earlier this week, Aronsohn said that putting power lines underground was “part of” what the village is looking into.
Several residents of Hope Street and Spring Avenue, where the poles are being placed, expressed support at Wednesday night’s council meeting for a BPU review of the project.
On its website, the BPU is described as a “regulatory agency whose responsibilities include oversight of the telecommunications industry in New Jersey.”

Retribution for that obnoxious tweet from PSEG. Now Aronsohn starts spending money to do some grandstanding.
