RIDGEWOOD, NJ — The Ridgewood High School girls’ distance medley relay (DMR) team just reminded the East Coast why the “Maroons” name carries so much weight in New Jersey track and field.
In a blistering performance against the region’s premier talent, the quartet clocked an astounding 11:56.98, securing a podium finish and etched their names into the local record books.
A Top-Tier Performance
Competing against elite programs from across the Eastern Seaboard, the RHS squad demonstrated incredible depth and grit. The team, composed of two rising juniors and two standout sophomores, finished 5th overall, proving they can go toe-to-toe with the best in the business.
The Record-Breaking Lineup:
-
Katherine Keating (Junior)
-
Maeve Schoeler (Junior)
-
Riley Lubkemann (Sophomore)
-
Waverly Noah (Sophomore)
Rewriting the Record Books
Beyond the 5th-place medal, the Maroons achieved a milestone that will be talked about for years in North Jersey sports. Their sub-12:00 finish officially ranks as the 4th fastest time in Bergen County history. This performance reinforces Ridgewood’s legacy as a distance-running powerhouse and sets a high bar for the remainder of the season. With all four runners returning next year, the record for the fastest time in county history may very well be on notice.
