Ridgewood tries out Mobi-Chair to improve access to public pool

RIDGEWOOD – Staff at a public pool in Ridgewood are trying out a device that will allow disabled residents to access the historic Graydon Pool.

Last month, the town was considering building a new ramp into the pool to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

A group of residents fought against that proposal, which would have included a concrete ramp built near the pool.

  1. If they buy the chairs will they cancel the ramp project?

  2. One can only hope, #1. Come to a council meeting and ask!

    1. I charge extra for valuable information on Graydon design and projects.

  3. It’s a sand bottom pool not a historic landmark….and let’s make sure the chairs have a bright orange “HANDICAPPED” sign on them to dissuade anyone from using them.

    1. sorry its landmark status and mobi chairs are ADA complaint , looks like the Pillars of Hercules are a no go

      1. Oh…. It’s not shrine….?………… thanks for clearing that up for me.

      2. James…it’s not on the National list and the state HPO website doesn’t even have a list published other than grants (and Graydon is not on that). Do you know where I can find anything that lists Graydon as a historic landmark?

  4. this chair is very cool, it’s nice to see that they have things like this for people that need it.

  5. Graydon has official landmark status at the municipal, i.e. local level.
