Ridgewood NJ, the following new requirements related to “Bulk Refuse” were approved by Village Council members on Wednesday.

Bulk refuse shall be limited in quantity to seven (7) items maximum. When an item has been dismantled for pickup it still counts as one (1)  item. When loose materials are placed in disposable containers for pickup (such as bags), each disposable container counts as one (1) item. Bulk refuse items should be separated from ferrous and nonferrous metals, stoves, refrigerators, freezers, washing machines, dryers, dishwashers, air conditioners, microwaves, tires, and lead-acid batteries, which are all recycled and not included in the item count.

  1. Would someone tell the dopey residents that that fake covid ’emergency’ has been over for a year and stop putting garbage cans and plastic bags of garbage on the curb. It looks like North Paterson

  2. If they left the cans in the back yards, how could they virtue signal that they are wearing masks to the people watching them put out their trash?

  3. Don’t forget when we have snow all cans must be at end of Drive way.

  4. TAXES GO UP AND THE SERVICES GO DOWN.

  5. I heard the new sanitation boss is pushing to have residents to put their garbage curbside.

And with the pandemic over, they are still not picking up recyclables from businesses in town.

  6. Who is the new boss.

  7. The new boss is the same as the old boss. We won’t be fooled again.

  8. The new sanitation boss needs to get a job in the private sector if he’s promoting this BS.
We pay generous salaries, medical benefits and pensions to get our trash picked up in the rear yard.
For those of you newbies, I’ll explain why we have our own expensive employees:
Back around 1969/1970 we had a private carter.
    There was a strike
No other carter would cross the picket lines since the garbage business in NJ was ‘controlled by the wiseguys…a/k/a REAL Tony Soprano types.
So we bought trucks, hired employees, paid them well.
If the town (for ZERO benefit to residents) goes to curbside, so will their JOBS.
Why? Because the wise guys are OUT of the business, prices are down, and the JOBS, including that of the Sanitation supervisor will get contracted out. Just like the school janitors. Save money for taxpayers. ( I like the collectors on my route so its not their fault- transfer them to the street dept)
The long time residents here only ask for a few things: plow the snow, pave the roads, pick up the trash in the back yard.
For that, we willingly subsidize you newbies with kids in the schools via the inflated school taxes.
There has always been a turnover here, as those who can’t afford to live here bail out when the last of their offspring graduate RHS.
Putting trash at the curb will ACCELLERATE that turnover, so yes your kids will have more playmates, but the taxes will go up exponentially due to the increased enrollment.
Just because you are used to garbage at the curb in Brooklyn, don’t bring your bad habits here.
And those well paid employees HAVE a contract that is ‘task work’. What that means, is upon completing the ‘task’ (=garbage route) they get to go HOME for the day.
So they get a full days pay and get it done faster and go home earlier due to that ‘covid excuse’ for curbside.
At least in NYC (where you people like the garbage at the curb along with the stench and rats) the city gets the sanitation dept to plow the roads instead of going home early.
This used to be a nice town .

  9. so if you have more than 7, drop the rest off at your neighbors. I mean really, such a stupid rule

  10. The new Boss has no clue and lazy, that’s why he wants it curbside

  11. “The new sanitation boss needs to get a job in the private sector if he’s promoting this BS……”

Geez this comment uses a whole lotta words to say “I’m a lazy, entitled dope.” Brevity is the soul of wit, my man.

  12. The ‘new sanitation boss”s job exists to serve the residents who pay his generous salary. NOT the other way around. See how much you’d get paid at a private carting company

  13. Eddy was a great supervisor. Bring him out of retirement please

  14. Where can you find this limit on an official village sanitation web site.
